Great value beginner microscope for micro soldering works. The quality of this microscope is good and can get the job done. The lights is flexible so you can move around to adjust the brightness.I replaced and fixed MacBook logic boards with this microscope.For my setup, I put the base backward and add 4 2.5lbs dumbbell plates.

Great working microscope. The two flex led lights are so helpful. I solder tiny pcb stuff under 10x mag and it's perfect.

So for $220 you get a good quality binocular microscope. Unit has two (2) LED illuminators making it superior to the identical Amscope version. Quality build heavy base, good focus adjust, cast optical head and base, heavy duty locking rings and locking screws. Industrial feel to the entire microscope, not a toy.Image quality is very good, really like the dual illuminators for inspection, zero shadows when adjusted.Have already repaired surface mount car instrument cluster. You can find a 0.5 power objectivethat fits to reduce low power to 5X while increasing field of view. Pleased with purchase.

The scope arrived well packed in molded polystyrene packaging within a box packed within an outer shipping box. It took 10 days longer to arrive than expected because the courier service lost it!The microscope was simple to assemble but the locking lever that attaches to the threaded piece on the left points downwards instead of upwards as shown in the photo on the product page. I’ll have to add a washer to allow it to tighten in the correct position.I am using the LED lighting on 230VAC without any problem. The dual gooseneck LEDs work very nicely. There is no intensity adjustment however and perhaps I will modify it and add an adjustment knob.The working distance is good and the image quality is excellent, though I find it difficult to keep the two eyepieces close together for an unobstructed view as my eyes are quite close together and I have a wide bridge that causes them to move apart. This is the most annoying part of using this.It ships with a pair of WF10X and also WF20X eyepieces. A single pair of rubber eye caps are provided so these have to be swapped between the eyepieces when changing them. Each eyepiece is loosely held in place with a screw that needs to be loosened with a screwdriver in order to change eyepieces which is a bit inconvenient. This is to prevent them being knocked off the head by accident.I am using this for electronic assembly and find 10X magnification is too much for soldering so I ordered a pair of 30mm diameter WF5X eyepieces from another supplier. These are pretty standard so they fit perfectly.I find that with the scope on a standard work table using a standard office chair, the eyepieces are a bit high to reach comfortably even with the head lowered to the lowest possible angle. Also the base is heavy enough to prevent the weight of the head from tipping the scope over, but only just - it is not that stable and should be much heavier to prevent it tipping over.Overall I am happy with this purchase however, the build quality is very good, and the alternatives are a lot more expensive.

I received the scope, set it up with the 10X eye pieces that it came with. Works great, but a 5X would work much better for the work that I do, soldering, and using a hand held rotary tool to cut prongs in rings, & to set stones. I also need a wider field of vision, that the 10X does not offer. I feel like the 10X is going to be a deal breaker, as to whether I keep the scope.

I was wary of a microscope with this feature set at this price, but the performance and versatility of this microscope is better than I imagined. The head rotation is adjustable in two axes, the focus drag is adjustable with a supplied tool, the field of view is flat and distortion free (see attached picture), and the working distance is about nine inches. The lamps are versatile and plenty bright for the 20x eye pieces. The eye relief is well under 10mm for the 20x eyepieces, but they do the job.This is an excellent value for surface mount device electronic assembly. I can't believe this is in stock for 3 day shipping in the USA for this price.Thank you sooo much!P.S. Added one more picture with a counterweight I added ($3 from ReStore) to allow the base to be rotated without tipping and Knob Studs (<$3) to make 'roll' axis adjustment easy.

I was a little hesitant to buy a microscope without zoom. However, I find that I use the 20x eyepieces most of the time, and only occasionally switch to the 10x. The working space is very generous and it has excellent depth of field and depth perception.
