I use it for editing in FCP and also for all my other keyboard work including PhotoShop etc. It is beautifully designed with a backlight facility that really sets it apart from the competition. The keys feel very soft and are lovely to touch.

For editors who spend much of their time correcting other people's faux pars, they have little time to spare fumbling with keys. This keyboard is a cheat sheet laid out before you, which removes the doubt and the need to 'second-think' where the key is. One's mind quickly learns that 'Tools' are in yellow, mauve is dedicated to the running of the frames, forward, backward, single frame advance etc., blue is associated with clips and so on. If you spend an hour absorbing the colour association, you will instinctively confine your search to that colour, should you have forgotten the exact key to press.I find that I no longer look for the letter, but the colour and area of the keyboard.I considered the keyboard expensive, but its soft illumination is far from distracting and a great deal of thought has gone into the sections and key associations. The many hours spent editing brings forth very rapid progress. Best of all, when looking at the monitor and then down at the keyboard for the lesser used keys, one doesn't have to await the opening of one's iris, the illuminated keys are easily seen without delay. This helps remove eyestrain, lowers stress when a deadline is fast approaching, and you don't have to rack your brains for that illusive key combination. I find the illuminated number keys a gift from the gods.If I was asked to criticise this keyboard in any way, I would say that the reds are a little too dull, or put another way, the colour is too dark a red, making the keys' black lettering less easily read. The answer is to have the numbering, diagrams and letters printed in white with the dark red as a background. This has already been done with the 'cmd' keys to excellent effect.Within a week, you will wonder how you ever managed without an illuminated keyboard + its cheat sheet layout.

This is a terrific aid to all professional editors but there is no USB port for a mouse or other peripheral which seems like an oversight... You then have to buy an extension USB cable and use up a precious socket on the hardware.

Keys have started to fall off and won't go back on again after just over a year of light use. Avoid this product!
