I’m addicted to Pocari Sweat, but hate the bottled cost! This is the solution!!
Affordable option for Pocari Sweat addicts! This is my favorite way to stay hydrated because it tastes so much better than US hydration packs or liquid IV products.Bottled Pocari sweat is very expensive with import costs— but this gets around that! You mix the powder into water and you have as much Pocari as you want

Amazing hydration alternative
I swear by this product. Used it for my Grand Canyon rim to rim hike. I enjoy the flavor and the benefits of this drink were good enough to take me through with no cramping. If you also live in humid places, this drink really does replenish drained electrolytes. If I could be sponsored by them, I would.

Basically Japan’s Gatorade. Delicious and great for fitness-related electrolyte replacement
Pocari Sweat is basically Japan’s version of Gatorade sports drink. This package is a single packet designed to make 10 litres of solution. I mistakenly thought it was 10 packets for 1 litre, each, but that’s no big deal. The packets for 1 litre of solution are 74 grams each, so just weigh out 74 grams of powder to 1000 mL of water (or a full Nalgene 1 litre bottle). For lovers of everything Japanese, Pocari Sweat is a novelty that isn’t sold directly in the US (to my knowledge, at least, I’ve never seen it at retail), but the price is pretty reasonable via Amazon, at about $1.35/litre equivalent. Although Otsuka Pharma doesn’t sell a carbonated version, you can mix 74 grams of powder with 200 mL of water, then dilute 1:4 with carbonated water to make your own, which is quite tasty and refreshing. I’m actually surprised they don’t sell it as soda in cans, because I think it would sell pretty well. For home use, the 10 L packet is fine, but I will probably pick up some 1 L packets for backpacking/travel.

Saved me while I was in Hong Kong
This drink saved me from dehydration and stomach upset while I was in Hong Kong. Now that i'm back to the states, I found this option to get a bunch of it.Cheat sheet for Americans - 5 tablespoons per liter. make sure to keep the unused powder dry and out of the humidity.

Best sports drink
We had this drink for the first time in Tokyo and liked how it replenishes but is not overly sugary like the sports drinks here in the US. We bought a few bottles at first when we returned from our trip but I did not like all of the plastic. Fortunately, they make a powdered version. I just scoop and dump into our water bottles for the kids when they have their sports activities.

Harvested cruelty free from cageless Pocaris.
I love Pocari Sweat (and Aquarius). They're a bit more expensive than Gatorade or similar sports drinks, but I find them far more refreshing, with a lighter, more pleasant taste. It's a very subtle taste, like enhanced water. A little bit citric acid, a subtle touch of salt.I like Pocari Sweat a little bit more than Aquarius, but that reverses when they're powdered: powdered Aquarius is definitely a little better. But they're all close enough that I had no reservations buying this giant bag. This costs about 75% more than an equivalent amount of Gatorade from the super market, but it's entirely worth it for how much more rejuvenating it is on the trail or bike or at the gym. This giant package is meant to let you fill a large drink cooler, but I just divide it up into little tupperware things. This is more convenient than the smaller packets (74g, meant for 1 liter), because my main water bottle is 20oz, which I figured as about 43grams of powder, so a full packet was too concentrated, but a half packet too watered down. I can get about 17 bottles full from this giant package, so I'll probably keep buying it until I can find it at my local Asian markets for non-usurious prices.

Free Range Pocari Are Best
This is great if you've got a full 10L container. I left a packet of this open at a sports event and we all scooped as necessary, but it's a little harder to get the right amount. I would prefer to have a hard walled container with a scoop for regular usage and generally default to the smaller packets because I wasted too much of this leaving it open and not finishing it. Still delicious and cost effective though. Much better than American sports drinks that are enough sugar for my body to protest.
