Very HD
The media could not be loaded. Works great! It's only tossed one wire so far. Made in USA is a big plus, worth every penny.

It truly is aggressive
I need to remove heavy rust from steel plating and tubing as well as excess zinc from coarse all-thread rods. Finer wire does a neat job of cleaning, but does not dig into the deep rust and zinc build-up, even with repeated passes. However, this coarse twist knot brush will "chew" through the softer zinc on the steel rod almost too quickly, so use light pressure. The heavy rust is no problem. Now that I have at least 15 hours of use on this wire wheel, the ends of the knots and gauge of the end wires have relaxed slightly. This is a plus because the aggressiveness is more controllable. The overall radius has worn approximately 1/4", which is expected and a testimony to the strength of the wire. As with any wire wheels, you will get break-off wires; and with the heavy gauge of this wire, be prepared for a periodic sting. I would recommend a face shield, particularly for the first hour or so of use.

A serious industrial strength wheel
With twisted thick .023 wires, and heavy US-made construction, this removes rust and paint, prepares parts for welding and doesn't take long doing it. I was not shot with with loose wires and it does not vibrate or seem out of round. My 8" grinder has one HP and it doesn't bog down with that. Not cheap, but so much better than my old and less aggressive wheels that simply were not getting the job done. I think it will last a long time as well, so glad I have it now.

only one out of three i tried was even close to balanced
only one out of three i tried was even close to balanced ...two were so unbalanced that the bench grinder wanted to leap off the workbench even though it was bolted down ...the problem is that the sheet-metal hubs are stamped and have atrocious runout when they turn on the shaft ... some had over 30/1000 in more than one place ...i manged to reduce the runout on the best one by sandwiching it between two round 1/4" thick, 5" diameter aluminum plates that i cut out and bored with 5/8" center holes and then squeezed the two plates against the hub when mounted on the grinder shaft ...also, as usual with many wire wheels, they've got whiskers sticking out at odd angles and are slightly bigger than 8" diameter, so play havoc with grinder cowlings and rests ... so i trimmed the whiskers and used the side of an old used-up grinding wheel to work against the wire wheel face while the wire wheel first spun on the grinder to trim the face to size and trim all of the wire ends to a perfect circlereally, everything i did SHOULD have been done at the Weiler factory if they gave a karp about their quality ...

Well worth the money
This is a nice wheel. Kind of agressive but it isnt throwing wires. I opted for the smaller diameter wire size but this is still a nice stout wheel

Good for lighter duty
If you're going to be doing very light duty work this is fine. The issue comes with the cable not being hard mounted into the base. If you're bearing down to remove thick scale it shifts in the disk mount and in short order enough wires released in whole from the mountaing to severely out unbalance the wheel. This is also a problem for flying debris. I understand that all wheels have debris that flies off, but these were consistent larger sections of whole wire not just smaller segments.

May be slightly oversized for brush enclosure
Great brush for the money.
