Q: I bought this but the foam layers are not easily separated. At this point, it's a big mess. Any advice for getting the layers to come apart easier?

As I was building new shop cabinets at our new home I decided to use the Fastcap Foam in all the drawers to organize tools. Thus far I have used five sheets of the foam purchased at different times. Four of the sheets; the layers separated quite easily but for the fifth one I had the same problem as you are experiencing. I thought it was probably that I had stored that sheet where the temperature reach more than 100° last summer. Maybe it is a manufacturing glitch. Just a further note I bought the marking pen and TriBlade cutter recommended and found that a ballpoint pen and X-Acto knife works just as well.

Q: Is this really 2" X 4" or is this a typo and should be 2' X 4' ?

2" x 4' (24" x 48") I didn't even notice that when I ordered it. Anyway, I got what I wanted.

Q: What is recommended to cut the foam? Utility blade or hot wire type?

Well the piece I bought the layers did not pull apart to well very uneven looked terrible, only needing a 9X12" piece, had plenty to try deferent methods I made a 3/4" template to fit my gun and used a router pattern bit cutting about 1/4" each pass. Came out totally professional looking all nice 90 degree cuts. last cut I went around a bunch times to get a nice flat bottom. I made a frame to hold the foam and attached the template to it.
