Yes, it is the same thread as a outlet or switch screw.

Q: Does klein or greenlee make one of these for 1/2" steel?

No, I think the thickness has to be under a quarter of an inch for these to work and even then you have to be careful not to put to much torque on them or they will snap off like a tap and then you’re really going to be “screwed” (pun intended), due to the hardness of the steel they are made from it will be impossible to drill it out.

Q: Are these impact rated?

No, not really, it is to hard and brittle being made up of tap steel and will snap off using an impact drill. Even with a regular drill you have to be careful with the smaller sizes not to bind them or they will brake off. I have a small low torque slow speed electric screw driver from Bocsh I use for this purpose, it’s like a mini screw gun and works really well for this purpose.
