Love David Protein Bars
I am new to David Protein bars but I am here to stay. My first comment is that the taste and texture of these bars is fantastic. I would not necessarily worry about the high protein, no sugar, no carbs if they did not taste good but they do so that takes me to the next positive, which I just mentioned, no sugar, no carbs, 25 grams of protein. Prior to tasting my first David bar, I would have a bowl of cereal or a granola bar mid morning. David bar has replaced that and satisfies my hunger the rest of the morning, through my lunch time work out, and has reduced how much I eat for lunch. Very satisfied with all of the flavors in the multi-pack I purchased, although my favorites are the blueberry pie and the cookie dough. Really looking forward to trying cinnamon roll.

Macros of a chicken breast, taste of a chocolate chip cookie
I'd always used the 10 to 1 protein rule to know if something is protein dense (10 calories to 1 gram of protein), so I was skeptical to hear that these are nearly 5 to 1 (150 calories to 28 grams of protein). That's like an unseasoned chicken breast or chalky protein powder. But these bars have somehow done it -- they're lean and actually taste good. I haven't found something better in terms of taste and calorie bang for your buck. The chocolate chip cookie dough is my top favorite. Here's why I like them:- Macros of a powder with the convenience of a bar. It's the only product I know of with both those features. Other bars are way higher in calories and sugar/fat. Powders are such a pain since you have to carry around (and wash) a shaker, and they don't keep you full at all. Bars are superior convenience to be able to throw in your bag without thinking.- Tastes great. And maybe more important, the texture is great. The bar itself is soft but there are a bunch of mix-ins for texture like chocolate and these little crispy things which are delicious.- Keeps me full. Out of anything, I was most surprised by this. Even if they didn't keep me full, the macros and taste were already enough to have me repurchase. But these work to hold me over between lunch and dinner when other bars last me about an hour.Overall very impressed. Will be repurchasing.

Changed the recipe and added unhealthy ingredients
The previous formula was a reasonably clean protein bar that I could find (still not completely clean), and I thought they were delicious, but now they’ve just changed the recipe and added maltitol, sucralose, and Acesulfame potassium (Ace-K), all of which are ingredients that many health-conscious people recognize as harmful to health.I reached out to David customer service, and they were really kind and responsive, which I appreciated. Nevertheless, I’ll post almost verbatim what I sent to them, because I want to encourage other consumers to fight for our health, and to consistently demand from companies that they stop selling us poison. Check out the other 1-star reviews here. People care. We do not want these ingredients.Note – I’ve had to remove the links to the studies I included, because Amazon will automatically redact them. But if you search for any of the things I’ve noted, you’ll find the research easily.------Message sent to David Protein: I want to share some feedback that you will hopefully consider, especially if other people like me write with the same concerns. I believe your product is a premium one (it certainly has a premium price) :) and it seems to be marketed towards people who take their health seriously. It’s frustrating that the food industry has continued on a decades-long trend to remove food from food. EPG, for instance, is not food. It’s an indigestible, synthetic, fat-like product. Take a look at these crazy side effects (some of which I experienced): (link to study was removed – google “EPG digestion side effects”) (Edit: Spoiler alert.... you might experience orange oily goo leaking out of your bum, including when you think you're passing gas...but surprise! Nope - time to shower and change your underwear immediately. I wish I was kidding. After I stopped consuming these bars, this bizarre symptom went away completely. EPG is not digestible by humans. EPG should not be sold. Google Olestra. This is Olestra 2.0.)I realize this ingredient was in your old formula, but I begrudgingly made my peace with it (Edit: this is no longer true - see my note above), but my true thought was – why don’t you just use a small amount of real fat? We, consumers, are not looking for calorie-free, food-free “food.” We want real food.Maltitol is a sugar alcohol. In recent years, it has come to light that sugar alcohols are associated with liver cancer. Check out: (link was removed – google “sugar alcohols and liver cancer”). I always mistrust something that seems too good to be true, especially sugar alternatives. Many health-conscious people, myself included, would be happy with just a small amount of real sugar or honey or maple syrup, as opposed to synthetic sweeteners. I believe that the danger of sugar alcohols will become more widely known over the next decade and people and companies who are paying attention will begin to shun them. And then you added sucralose and Ace-K. :( These are awful ingredients. I saw one of your Instagram ads, where people were pointing this out, and your responses to them were that they are “safe” and “FDA approved.” Do you know how many toxins and carcinogens are FDA approved? That can’t be the only source of “truth” that we listen to, because the FDA is not an angelic and altruistic organization. They are part useful and part pure evil. Both of these ingredients (and other artificial sweeteners), are linked to cardiovascular disease – which is the #1 killer in the US. Please check out: (link was removed – google “artificial sweeteners and heart disease”). Here’s another article on Ace-K: (link was removed – google “Effects of acesulfame K on human health”).If I were developing a product, I wouldn’t even consider including “questionable” ingredients (those that have raised enough red flags that they could be dangerous, even if there wasn’t a definitive cause/effect study produced). Why take the risk? There are so many extremely safe natural food ingredients to use. The problem is that little bad things like this, here and there, are used in tons of our food products, and over the decades, they add up to a big cumulative effect and cause serious diseases. Please consider this comment again: health-conscious people are looking for real food. The true solution is to just make everything from scratch at home, but it sure would be nice to find one convenient, truly clean protein bar to have occasionally. Thank you for reading, and I’ll truly miss your bars. They were delicious.

Highly Recommend!
When I first saw the macros for the protein bars, I was skeptical of how it would taste because 28g of protein for only 150 calories is unbelievable. But it actually tastes amazing and doesn't have the weird aftertaste that a lot of protein bars have. As someone who has been going to the gym for years, I actually look forward to eating these after my workouts. It hits my macros perfectly and beats any other protein bar I've had. These are absolutely a must-have if you want to build muscle, and I highly recommend them!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk & Cinnamon Roll are the best Flavors.
Yum - i got this package to figure out which flavors are best. I typically prefer chocolate and peanut butter flavors. I thought I would like the fudge brownie most, but, to my surprise, the peanut butter flavors were far better. If I had to rank in order 1, peanut butter chocolate chunk , 2 salted peanut butter, 3, chocolate chip cookie dough, 4 cake batter, 5 blueberry, 6 cake batter. I'd never spend 40 dollars on an entire box of cake batter, it was too sweet for me. I stopped at the vitamin shoppe and tried their new cinnamon roll flavor. That and peanut butter chocolate chunk are the superior bars. They don't have an aftertaste and are closest to the "real thing". Great macros, ingredients could be healthier but they do me well in moderation. It shows in my figure.

Love them!!
I’m in love. I initially purchased a variety pack then a box of the fudge brownie bars. It took me a minute to get used to the texture since the protein bars I normally purchase (one, quest) are more like traditional protein bars. I also like the blueberry pie bar but I like to dip my bars in peanut butter to increase my caloric intake without getting overstuffed so fudge brownie worked best for that. The macros are way better than any bar I’ve ever tried. Gonna order another box now :)
