Group Chat gets a ❤️ not a 👎 emoji from me
Group Chat's premise is pretty simple - each player submits their best reply to the card that starts the group chat. Other players vote on each reply with a heart or thumbs down icon. If your reply card gets too many thumbs downs, you'll get kicked out of the chat and have to wait to try again next chat (turn).I always think it's a little strange when game designers take something from the digital realm and try to turn it into an adult party game. I've seen it with games like What Do You Meme and others, including this one - Group Chat. When it works, it can be a lot of fun. When it doesn't...well...you'll get kicked out of the chat and / or game night. For the most part, Group Chat works pretty well. It's easy to learn and fun to play. The only caveat I'd add is that like most games, you need to play with the right group. Surround yourself with too many duds around your gaming table and it won't matter how fun the game is. I have one friend who really bristles at playing games that are completely subjective when it comes to determining a winner. This is not the game for him. Have some fun and funny people playing with you, though, and this game could win your game night.

Fun game
So, I was skeptical of this game because I thought it was going to be a bit contrived and perhaps to focused on texting, but I actually think that it is fun. Basically, the point of the game is that one person chooses a card that starts a thread (and these are all quite funny - see my photo of some cards if you want to see examples of what you will get. A lot of these are clever and made me chuckle. The prompt cards are the ones that are more circular.) anyway, after that, every other player takes one rectangular card from their hand and makes the funniest answer to the prompt that they can. They do this without revealing who is giving what answer. Then, the answers are all turned over and everyone votes on what their favorite answer is in the thread. The winner wins by being voted best text six times. The fun of this game is the amusing prompts (they sold me) and seeing what people come up with in terms of funny retorts. In my photo with all the cards, you can see the rectangular response cards in purple at the bottom of the picture. These were cards drawn at random, and they are funny. So, I can only imagine how funny it will be when people are trying to be funny and actually have choices! Consequently, I think that this is an easy way to have a lot of laughs with a group. It strikes me that this game is kind of similar to a very famous game where people must match funny slogans to photos. This is a nice twist on that and I could imagine it would be a good alternative option for those who love that very famous game, but want to try something new. Congratulations to the authors of this game for coming up with a similar, but different, experience for game players. In preparing to do this review, I looked at the value offered by that famous game, which is approximately $30, while this is about 2/3 of the cost (at least at the time of this writing), so I would say that this would create a very similar experience, but be friendlier on the budget and therefore is a good value for money. Everything that you get seems to be a good quality. I took a photo of everything that you get so that you can take a look at it. Also, I took a photo of the rule sheet, which looks a bit denser than some other games that I have seen, but don’t let that fool you - the rules here are very simple and easy to understand. It will take you 20 seconds to figure out how to play. Additionally, I have found that other games with less dense rule sheets, end up being more confusing. So, kudos to this game manufacturer for including full (yet not overwhelming) rules. Overall, I think that this is a good buy, and can’t wait to play!

Fun alternative for CAH fans
I'm a sucker for Cards Against Humanity and What Do You Meme?, so of course I had to give this game a try. I don't think it will replace either of the others as my go-to game, but it's a fun new twist on the theme. This one would be good to play if the teenagers or your slightly more uptight friend are included in the group, as it's not as raunchy as CAH. There are still curse words and adult themes, but it's definitely a little tamer. (You won't find yourself having to explain to your Christian friend what bukkake means, for example...) I just wish it came with something to keep all the little reaction tokens in because once you punch those out to actually play, they either end up in a ziploc (classy!) or all over the place (chaos!).

A Lot of Fun!
As someone who owns hundreds of board and card games, it takes a lot to impress me and give me "hey, this is a new concept!" vibes when looking for a new game to play. Too often, games that have an interesting premise get lost in the shuffle because they simply are not quite as engaging and fun as I'd hoped for. That's not the case for Group Chat.Seeing as I absolutely love games like New Phone, Who Dis?, Cards Against Humanity, and What Do You Meme?, I was looking forward to trying this one. I thought the idea behind it being a text message themed game would make it pretty interesting, and I was right. While the entire theme isn't the most unique idea, it is a lot of fun because it is carried out in an entertaining manner.I play games with my family and friends a lot, and I always look for something that keeps us laughing. Group Chat has that kind of element that helps keep you entertained and wanting to play again and again. My usual group hasn't gotten bored with it yet, and I know we will be bringing this one out on game nights pretty often!

Super FUN, quick & easy to learn!
This game is so much fun! We had a lot of laughs while playing. It’s very easy and quick to learn. I would say it’s definitely more of an adult game, based on some of the discussion and adult language used on the cards in this game. You having discussion starting card, then each person plays a card from their hand as a replay to the first group text card, then you either love (heart) or give a dumbs down, to your favorite and least favorite reply’s. They comment with the most “heats” wins that round of play, the text comment card that receives the most thumbs down, sits out the next round of play. The first person to win six rounds of play is declared the winner. You will definitely get a lot of laughs while playing. If “cuss” words offend you, I would recommend you not playing this game. I hope you found this review helpful.
