The Day the Earth Blew Up - A Looney Tunes Movie

Must-Watch, Classic Looney Tunes Animation. I Consider This Film Important.
This is a fabulous homage to classic Looney Tunes and evokes the original spirit of the classic shorts from the 30s, 40s and 50s. Daffy Duck's personality is his affable, goofy self; less the sarcastic, moodier personality he has in some of the shorts by Chuck Jones. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Chuck Jones, but it's nice to see a faithful adaptation that respects the original Daffy/Porky Pig friendship. The animation is, especially for the budget, very well done. The animators have clearly studied the classic works and knew exactly how to recreate the timeless humor of the original shorts. The sound design was fantastic, too.The story is a fun one that has a bit of a surprise twist I wasn't expecting. And thankfully it is largely devoid of the lame "modern day reference" humor so much animation seems to have to make these days, minus a couple of small jokes ("Look guys, classic cartoon character Daffy Duck is on a smartphone and he's using a parody of Instagram to twerk, ho ho ho! Hilarious!"), and the gross-out humor was also kept to a minimum, so it actually made the gags funny instead of eye-rolling.I originally watched this in the theater. When I saw this film was going to be on Blu-Ray, I immediately pre-ordered. This is one that will be beloved and re-watched many times over the years to come. This movie is the first full-length animated Looney Tunes movie in history, it's kind of a big deal!WB, what the heck are you thinking with making distribution of this and other animated movies so difficult?!?!

Chew On This!
This movie caught my attention the moment it was first announced and I myself, grew up watching Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes. All I can say was 100% not disappointed in the slightest. It has action, thrills, heart, laughs, and best of all,the classic Looney Tunes wackiness that fans have grown to know and love. I love the dynamic between Porky and Daffy. They're like a mix between best friends and brothers and I love it. Petunia played her role perfectly here too. She's as adorable as she is quirky. They really are the trio you would least expect to save the world from an alien invasion and yet they somehow get the job done. In summation, this movie truly is out of this world. Classic fan or newcomer, young or old,I assure you, this movie will be a real treat.

A little scary, but so much fun!
I watched this last night with my 9 year old, and we were both laughing out loud. I blind bought this because we missed it in theaters. The picture was beautiful and vibrant and detailed. On a calibrated 85" display, I could see very little flaws. You get the feeling you could squeeze some better compression, details, and color out, but not by much. For the sound, it was not lossless, but it was accurate and heavy hitting and active. The movie had a modern twist but was true to the original Looney Tunes feel. The price of this disc is so low, just buy it, and get ready for a comedy, romance, sci fi, adventure, horror, B movie of a good time!

Happy this even got a physical release
I’m glad I have the blu-ray to this almost never-to-be-released film. Happy to support hand drawn animation. Ketchup Entertainment seems to be being this video release and not WB Home entertainment, but I could be mistaken. This movie is definitely worth the retail price (it retailed day one at $13.99). I say that because this is a very odd physical release. The box art has very little information and material, no standard Blu Ray banner art, one spine is completely blank. There are no special features, no scene selection lol.Even though it’s only 1080p, this sure looks great, crispy, and vibrant. I appreciate the low price, if it were $24.99 I would give a different rating based on the missing special features and odd menu.

Absolutely Loved it!!
They didn’t right! A solid modern day Looney Tunes Movie! I was extremely skeptical about getting this movie as I have been very disappointed in the modern day Looney Tunes.Movie was actually funny and had a great story line! Felt like it kept the traditional Looney Tunes vibe but a modern twist in a good way.Highly recommend if you like the original looney tunes! A++ Great job WB glad they released it!

Fun movie that Deserves better
This movie is fun and has some great animation, and it looks great—I didn’t notice any problems with playback. That said, it deserves more than this barebones package (it has a trailer and threats it) with the worst spine label I’ve ever seen in my life—it’s literally just the cover shrunk down to fit on the spine and is basically impossible to read.

Classic Characters Ham It Up in Neo Animation Offering
Like the highly different personalities of the two main characters, this homage to classic animation covers a fairly broad range. I do not regret buying it but will be unlikely to rewatch it.The highlights include what seems to be a reimagining of the origin stories of Porky Pig and Daffy Duck. These unlikely friends are adopted as babies by a friendly farmer and raised as brothers. A highlight is an amusing early scene that establishes how Porky develops his trademark stutter.A related cute moment involves Porky and his love interest bonding over having the same speech impediment.Easter egg nods to classic Looney Tunes animators aptly honor those true artists. The title includes a fun pun that is revealed as the story develops. Further, things move at a decent clip. The biggest complaint is undue reliance on a montages that are both too numerous and long. Setting them to top 40s hits arguably steaks from Illumination films.Including a Looney Toons short before the main feature would have added great value to the film. The animation is decent but far from Oscar worthy. The bottom line is that people who opt out on this one will not miss much.
