This really works. Amazed how much the yogurt thickens.
I make my own homemade yogurt. I had read articles about straining yogurt but I did not really want to go through the hassle and mess of straining my yogurt with a cheesecloth and colander, which takes up a lot of room in the refrigerator.I then discovered this yogurt strainer ( I am always amazed with the labor saving devices that people invent). It works like a charm. The only drawback is I did not realize how much whey drains out. But the result is thick, creamy Greek Style yogurt.I will probably purchase another one since I make a gallon of yogurt at a time which is a little much for this unit.I have used it several times a week with no issues. This is very easy to clean. I just rinse it and brush it with a soft dish brush and let it dry.An added bonus is the frozen yogurt recipe I use (from ATK) calls for starting with a strained yogurt and this works great in that process.

So glad I got this yogurt strainer
I just started making my own yogurt at home. I've been experimenting with recipes and starters, and there have been varying degrees of success. Some batches have had a lot of whey. The Ultimate Greek Yogurt Strainer has been really helpful during this process. After I cool the yogurt in the fridge I put it in the strainer and put it back in the fridge. After a few hours I get nice thick creamy yogurt on top and all the whey on the bottom. I use the whey to seed the next batch or I use it in smoothies. It washes (by hand) easily. There is no way I would bother with cheese cloth to strain the yogurt - too messy. I am so glad I found this yogurt strainer.

Nice
Just received it today. Washed it and have batch of yogurt in it already. Seems well made. The porous screening material is extremely thin, curious to see how long it lasts. So far it is working well, first batch comment. It holds quite a bit, i normally make 1.5-2L at a time so this will work well. Only time will tell.Update: I have run a few batches of yogurt through this strainer. When I use cheesecloth in a strainer it takes about two hours to achieve nice thick Greek style yogurt. With this strainer, after 6 hours the yogurt has lost some of its whey, but is no where near as thick as just using cheesecloth. This is a nice strainer, but I get better results with cheesecloth. And I just wash the cheesecloth out, let it dry, and it is ready for next batch. That is my personal opinion, others will surely disagree, if nothing else then to just disagree.Another update: A positive note, if you are not in a hurry, fill it and leave in the fridge overnight. Wow, fantastic thick and creamy Greek style yogurt. So my first update was comparing this to using cheese cloth, which works in a couple hours. But this strainer overnight in the fridge is awesome.

Makes thick Greek yogurt!
I’ve used this a handful of times now. It was very well! I make my yogurt, put it in the refrigerator until it is cooled. Then I pour it into the Ultimate Greek yogurt strainer and it comes out super thick! The whey separates very well. I make 2 qt. of yogurt from whole milk. I get about 1/2 qt. Greek yogurt and 1 1/2 qt. whey. I can easily wash it in the dishwasher. Very good so far!

Like it but wish it was larger
Great yogurt strainer. I like the shape but I honestly need a larger one. Wish they made this double the size so I can fit a gallon of yogurt vs a half gallon. I think it is a good value for the money and easy to use.

Works as it's meant to
It does what it's supposed to. Definitely will not strain like a cheese cloth though. I saw another picture on one of the reviews that shows how the drainage is so good that it will be the consistency of cream cheese/sour cream but that is not that case. Here is a side by side comparison of straining with cheese cloth (right) vs straining with the ultimate yogurt maker (left). I got a little less than 400 ml of whey out of it with the yogurt maker after 14 hours and 500ml of whey after 12 hours with the cheese cloth. It also does clean very well and is a very good size. It closes well so it is very hard to open for me.

Does a great job!
Works very well. I make my yogurt in batches with a half gallon of milk and this strainer has plenty of room for it. I like that it comes with a lid. I just set it the refrigerator overnight and it’s done in the morning. My Greek-style yogurt is nice and thick. Easy to view the contents. Easy to clean on the top shelf of the dishwasher.

Gets the job done!
Works great! Does exactly what it’s supposed to do! Strains the yogurt and separates the whey! Easy to use! Washed in dishwasher and it was fine.
