Perfect for salmon.

Great for grilling does not make smokey flavor
I'm going to give you my honest feedback in regards to to these cedar planks I bought them for salmon to put on the barbecue and while I'll admit it does cook well on these but they do not give the food any smokey flavor at all but if you are looking for wooden planks that you could just put any type of meat or fish on it so it doesn't touch the grates this is the perfect thing for that but don't expect any flavor from it although while it's on the grill it does give off a beautiful smoky aroma but it does not cause enough smoke to penetrate to give it a flavor

Grilling planks - perfect for smoking my Steelhead
I got this 12 cedar planks to try out smoking on them instead of my smoking box. I soaked the cedar planks in water for a couple of hours in the sink (hint: place a heavy pot on top of them as they float for maximum soakage) whilst I cured a side of Steelhead with Bourbon, Fine Ground sugar, smoked sea salt and freshly ground black pepper in the refrigerator.I heated up the grill to about 400F and placed chunks of Steelhead on the planks, carefully placed them on the grill and closed the hood on my grill. Just watch for planks catching fire (I just blew out the flames and turned down heat) and keep checking every 5 minutes.After 15 minutes the Steelhead was done - transferring the planks off the grill to a rack before serving.Planks are good size for a portion, presentation is restaurant grade (see photos) and snapped up quickly at dinner.Compared to the piece I smoked at the same time with Alder Wood chips alongside in my smoker - less smoky in flavor but more subtle. Both versions got the double thumbs up so enjoyed by family!
