Q: What happends to the Bacteria when it's used up?

once you introduce the bacteria to your aquarium or pond--it takes root and grows--thats what keeps your water clear -- the bacteria eats up the bad stuff in your water

Q: With no expiration date how do I know if the “beneficial bacteria” are still beneficial. I could be just basically pouring water if it’s past the exp?

Dr.Tim's is a biologic. Most expiration dates are conservative. If it more than a year over, I would throw it away. Just my opinion.

Q: Does this help dissolve fish waste on the gravel?

Dear Marsha: I use it every Sunday and yes, it does help dissolve fish waste as well as unclog gravel and keep filter pads (bags) freely flowing longer. This results in more oxygen and healthier aquarium environment.
