Too salty, no flavor
This tasted absolutely awful—nothing like authentic Japanese umeboshi. It had no flavor whatsoever, just pure salt. It was so salty it was inedible; I literally had to spit it out. Completely disgusting

Very salty, but...
I like the softness of the umebosi and the amount of shiso. However, compared to another brand I have used, Eden is much too salty for me. I found a workaround online and am currently soaking the plums and shiso (after draining all the liquid) in a bowl of water. Soaking for 12 +/- hours is supposed to reduce the saltiness. I put the bowl in the fridge and will leave it overnight and drain the next morning. If it's still too salty, I'll repeat and hopefully have something I'll enjoy.

Good salty sour fruit jam taste. Eat 1/2 at a time
I enjoyed the tart salty jam like taste to this salted plum/apricot. I read a lot of cooking recipes for this and watched YouTube videos on how to eat this, I've personally enjoy it. I like tart and sour snacks , if you enjoy a salty sour slightly fruity taste you would enjoy this. Personally I have Gerd/ acid reflux stomach Problems so after eating a whole plum, my stomach was hurting a little afterwards but that's just because I'm sensitive to acidity, I thought this product might help with that but it didn't for my personal case. I would say it would help with normal after dinner digestion but only eat like half of it. A lot of people said it's too salty but this is really only if you enjoy salty sour fruits. It would really be good with rice or chicken other than that on its own is good to me, I also like to problems so after eating a whole plum, my stomach was hurting a little afterwards but that's just because I'm sensitive to acidity, I thought this product might help with that but it didn't for my personal case. Exactly what I was looking for
Growing up, umeboshi was a staple in our home. Recently, I was looking for it to use in a recipe and was shocked at how many brands use corn syrup or some other type of sugar. This Eden brand, though pricey, had only the plum, salt, and shiso leaves - perfect.

Authentic Japanese Pickled Plums
If you like umeboshi these are for you. Authentic sour/salty taste that I've enjoyed since living in Japan. Red shiso (beefsteak plant) leaves used to add the traditional red coloring. Although called plums ume are more like apricots and this particular application pickles them so that they can be used in a traditional manner, such as in the center or a rice ball. We enjoy them with oatmeal (I add little yogurt margarine, salt and pepper). Umebosh do have pits in the center so you may want a different product if you wish to avoid the pits (we have no problem with them as we chop the meat into smaller fragments using a spoon one we've poured the oatmeal over the ume boshi--and eat just a small bit with a spoonful or two of oatmeal or a bite of the rice ball).
