The Meat Thermometer That Makes You Feel Like a Backyard BBQ Jedi
Can we please take a moment for the packaging?! I’m a firm believer that the cover helps you love the book — and this one’s a page-turner. When you open your Amazon package, you’re greeted with a sleek, sturdy box that screams quality. I actually kept mine to store my Meaters (yes, plural — they’re that good). It’s minimal, it’s modern, and it sets the tone for the awesomeness inside. Now let’s talk about the Meater XL — an absolute game-changer. I’ve used the original Meater+ and liked it, but the XL? Total glow-up. Not a single connection issue so far. I can confidently run errands or sip a cold one while my brisket or pork butt slow cooks, knowing the Meater XL is keeping tabs on both the internal meat temp and the barrel temp. It’s like having a BBQ assistant who never takes a break. And let’s not forget — NO annoying metal-braided wires! If you’ve used old-school thermometers, you know the grime, the hassle, the frustration. With the Meater, a little Bar Keepers Friend and boom — good as new. So simple. So clean. Also, customer service? A+. I’ve been with Meater since day one, and they’ve always had my back. Fast, friendly, and super helpful.🎁 Father’s Day, birthday, random Tuesday? This is the gift. Not only will Dad (or YOU) love it, but it actually frees up time — less hovering, more hanging out. Everyone wins.Long story short: The Meater XL is a must-have for anyone serious about BBQ. If you love precision, convenience, and looking like a grill master, just go ahead and hit "Add to Cart."🔥 Highly recommend. 10/10. Would Meater again. 🔥

Changed Cooking Forever
The probes are very easy to use. A great thing about wireless probes is that you can leave them in after taking the meat off the grill, and that lets you see how much the meat temperature continues to rise after it is removed from the grill (or usually a smoker in my case).Another great thing about wireless probes is that you can have a probe for each piece of meat (e.g., in each chicken) and not end up with a rats nest of wires to deal with. And the Meater app is awesome. Each probe is monitored as a separate "cook," and the app separately calculates and tracks an estimated time to reach the target temperature for each cook. It is amazing how much easier it is to get perfect results every time. The meat temperature sensors are spot on. The ambient temperature sensors at the butt end of the probes are accurate also, but can often be a little off from what you expect, particularly near the beginning of the cook, either due to heat conduction up the probe (not likely since there is a decent heat transmission insulator in the probe) or (more likely) due to proximity of ambient temperature sensor to the cool meat surface. (Sometimes to get the meat temp sensor deep enough you have to insert the probe at a really shallow angle so that the ambient temp sensor at the butt end ends up being very close to the meat surface.). So when you first start using these probes, good to also use a separate temperature sensor on the grill to see how much and when the sensed ambient cooking temperature is different. Becomes easier after a few cooks. You will love these.

STAY AWAY, MAJOR WIFI ISSUES
Do not buy this product as it is not compatible with todays WiFi networks. Perhaps if you have an older WiFi network it will work. I have cutting edge from ASUS as well as EERO and it won't connect to either of them. It does work on my older work WiFi network. They come back and comment about the 2.4GHz but I have IoT set up on both networks and is only 2.4GHz. It will not connect to either of them. I have an Inkbird with 4 probes and it connects with no issues. I also have about 200 other devices connected to the home WiFi and have no issues. I have explained this very clearly to Meater and they will only say that since it works at my work WiFi then the problem is my home WiFi and I should contact my internet provider. Verizon will not offer support for ASUS or EERO and when I tell ASUS or EERO that I have 200 other devices connecting just fine then will say "the issue is clearly the Meater device". I agree. The whole WiFi setup is hokey. I suspect if their level 2 support spend a little bit of time they could figure out what is happening and make a firmware mod to fix it and make their product more robust, but unfortunately they have no interest in doing that. Oh well, it is what it is. Inkbird is about $140 so infinitely cheaper: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D62QTGJM?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1BUYER BEWARE, STAY AWAY from MEATER.

Great results.
I took me awhile to stumble on the suggested solution on how to use for ambient temperature only. I (like most) don’t probe pork ribs when smoking but your “probe a potato or onion” idea paralleled what I was thinking if I hadn’t found your suggestion in FAQ. Another smoke with chicken and ribs, then for 2 pork shoulders, and later grilled pork chops were both perfect. The shocker was the 2 strip steaks that had been given to me that were barely big enough to properly probe for grilling. (1” thick-ish that I would never pay money for). Perfect Mid-rare achieved! The resting feature is fantastic eliminating the guess work of how long to rest your cook for before cutting. I’ve been using the “Meater Recommends” on suggested internal cook temperature which is the way to go. GREAT PRODUCT.
