The kit works well. I have concerns over the quality of the drill bit and it’s ability to last.For what I wanted I used it to repair stripped thread on a motorcycle mirror mount. I very slowly set the drill in revers to get the enlargement started then set the drill to a slow speed, set a depth guage mark on it. The drilled, used the supplied tap(you need a tap handle to do the job properly so if you haven’t got one buy one) then put some medium strength threadlock on the aluminium and screwed the helicoil in just below the surface as it tells you to. Left 2 or 3 hours for threadlock to set then put mirror riser back in and it tightened up as expected. It saved me a lot of money. So for the price of the kit to even just use it once that was well worth it.Now the drill bit did seem marked and I noticed a small chip in the cutting tip. So I’d be concerned about drilling steel with it. Plus buying a quality 10.3mm bit is going to be pretty impossible I guess. But if you have a motorcycle with toffee aluminium threaded holes and steel bolts etc then this will save you time and hassle and £££

I have used genuine helicoils in the aerospace industry. These are not the same quality but they did the job on my lawn mower where three threads in aluminium were stripped. I used cutting fluid for drilling and tapping. I already had a tap wrench which is essential to get the tap square. I used red loctite on the inserts but I think they will be retained OK without this belt and braces.

Like millions of other Civic owners, the tensioner bolt hole stripped well below torque spec on my car.The drill bit in this kit was nice and sharp. I cut 1" off the back to give me room to fit it between block and fender. Then I used vice grips to turn the bit and hand drill out the old hole. I then threaded and screwed in the coil. Everything worked as planned, and I was able to torque screw to 33 ft lbs like advised by honda. I believe the hole is actually stronger now than factory. Good luck!

Worked like a charm, and hasn't lost compression. When using on a ttr125 head, I had to cut a couple threads off as it was a little bit too long. But it's not marketed for a ttr125, and its working fine so A+.
