So much good about this kit. There are multiple blocks of clay. It's a nice gray clay that is easy to manipulate, even for my 6-y-o daughter. Pottery isn't easy to learn and can be frustrating at that age, so no surprise that she thought this was challenging.The instructions are amazing compared to many art kits. There are drawings and instructions for all phases of the activity. The mat keeps the table clean (mostly) and the detail tools are a lot of fun for them to decorate. There is even a collapsable water cup to keep the clay moist while working it.Two days of drying later and you are ready to prime it with the included primer (so paint doesn't soak in forever) and paint it. The paint is a descent acrylic in small tubes and a bunch of real colors that you would recognize from major paint companies. When that dries there is a varnish to paint on to protect the paint.No part of this kit is premier quality except perhaps the instructions. Taken as a set, it is a complete end-to-end project that the kids can take to completion with little or no help. This alone is worth every penny. Love this set! Can't wait to order more clay so they can keep going. I recommend.

I haven't used air dry clay in decades, but was interested in this set because it was an easy craft in a kit that includes everything I'd need to create, from beginning to end. This is a good kit, suitable for an absolute beginner, and worked well for my needs.Again, I haven't used air dry clay in a long, long time so I can't speak to how the quality of the clay stacks up to name brand. I will say that I used about half a packet of clay and worked with it for about two hours before I was satisfied with my design and decided to roll it. The clay dried out throughout those two hours but adding a substantial amount of water to it, it was pliable and worked fine. The clay dried thoroughly within 24 hours. The tools were ample and I had everything I needed to work with it in the kit. The only thing I used from my own stash were some cookie cutters to create crisp shapes.Painting was the next step. The kit comes with a base coat, acrylic colors and brushes. The base coat was great. The acrylic colored paint were okay. It took many, many coats before the paint was opaque, making mixing different colors a little difficult. The brushes were adequate. The paint dried completely within 2 hours. I did use some Mod Podge I had on hand to seal it against, wear and tear (though I would stress that it wasn't food safe).Overall, this is a good set and, again, has everything you'd need to create. It would make a good gift for a teenager, or a project for a family over an extended vacation from school. I wouldn't hesitate to use it for kids 6+.

This is really nice clay.I had my grandkids (ages 6-11) over and they all enjoyed making something out of it. I had fun trying to make a little dog sculpture.After everything was dry they painted their creations with the included paints.I have to say the paints are very nice. Good, bright colors, smooth, easy to paint with.My one tip is to make sure to keep the clay moist while working with it and really smooth pieces together so the don't fall off later.I would definitely buy more of this. The nice thing is there are still two packages of clay left to make more things with!

Ok, the good news first. You get a lot of neat stuff in the kit. You get 3lbs. Of clay in reseal bags. Now for the bad. The clay starts drying as soon as you get it out of the bag. It cracks, it splits and is very hard to use. The clay is the star attraction in kit and it fails to be good clay. As I said,I like everything in the kit but the clay needs help...

I've been wanting to try my hand at making fairy houses out of clay for a while and picked up a few different air dry clay kits to try out. I am pleased with the quality of items and packaging of the kit that I received from this company.The clay is well packaged and did not arrive dried out. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The tools are basic but don't have any splinters or jagged bits that would hurt hands during use. My favorite part of this kit is that it includes both a silicone mat, but my very close second favorite is the inclusion of base coat and a clay varnish for coating finished pieces.The box is attractive and this would be a great item to wrap up and give as a present. I am happy with the set that I received. I'll try to remember to update with more photos after I make my fairy house.
