Aiper pro S1 and the Surfer S1/m1 above water cleaning unit. Two smart moves for your pool.
I have now a Aiper pro S1 pool cleaner and I cannot say enough good things about this "Aiper pro s1" cleaning unit. I charge it (2 to 2 1/2 hours for a full charge) to its full charging capacity and it will run for around 2 1/2 hours which is more than enough considering the size o my pool. This unit a a must have for cleaning equipment. Its has a powerful suction to pick up the dust and debris that lays on the floor of your pool. I'm totally 100 % satisfied with the workings of this Aiper Pro s1. I also purchased the Surfer s1 above cleaning unit. I found out that 5 to 7 hours was more that enough with still an enormous amount of charge left in the unit in case you wanted to run the Surfer unit longer. It runs on top of the Water cleaning the debris that floats. Its keeps you from using a pole net to clean the surface of the pool. This is a great additional to the things I must have to keep my pool clean. You will not go wrong in purchasing this Surfer (above water cleaning unit) S1 unit. A full 5 star rating in my book for these two units. Thank you Aiper, you just made my pool cleaning days easier.

Keeps My Pool Looking Beautiful!
This device runs around on the surface of my pool all day, skimming foreign material off the surface. All the while, it is being recharged by the solar panels on top. I love this thing!

Nice to see clean surface water
It worked just fine right out of the box. It cleans the pool’s surface. However, I had to return it for a repair around day 35-40. Customer service was great! Battery life is great with the solar panel charging.

I love this!
I bought this at the end of pool season so no chance to use it. I'm excited that I have it already for this year's pool season. It will allow me more time to enjoy the pool instead of cleaning it!

Do not buy. Does not do ANYTHING other than swim around and amuse the dog
Does not do what it is supposed to do: Skim stuff off the surface of the water. I bought this a few months ago and opened the box last week to open the pool for the season. Big mistake. Should have opened it immediately and learned that it is useless for its stated purpose and returned it immediately. I have reached out to the Aiper customer service line ( I knew I was in trouble when I found a card in the box that said 'don't return this call us!'). The customer service representative was unable to help, seemingly only able to read a prompt that got me no where. In short the device skims nothing. Completely useless. Do not buy.

Will run out of battery just by being in stand by
Final Update: The original CSR got in contact with me and explained it was a mistake by a rookie CSR. She was very professional and helpful. I did not ask for a replacement device to see if that was the issue since others have gotten replacements and say they are happier with the product. Since one of my biggest issues is the battery drain even when on standby and the device can't solar charge when off, I rather not continue experimenting. If you have issues, reach out to them and hopefully they can help, I may give a chance to a future device.Update: After I submitted the review below, Aiper contacted me through Amazon messages. They offered a refund once they got the item back and even a different machine to test at no additional cost. After sending them the required information to get started on the process, now they tell me they have no previous interactions as if we never talked. The communication was all inside of Amazon Message Center but they have no record? The level of incompetence from this company is too much. Beware since this could be a scam from them to run your return window as I am very close to it and if I had trusted them, I may have not been able to return the item.Original:I have tried the AIPER Surfer S1 for about 2-3 weeks now. According to the documentation, it is supposed to "energy save" at night but it just keeps running as if it were daytime. If you place it on standby, it will still run down your battery. I tried one night leaving it on standby, the next day around noon (which means it should have gotten some sunlight) it was 20% less than the night before without running. I also read a review that if it is off, it won't charge and I must believe it since I left it without use for about 3 days in direct sunlight, I turned it off expecting it to charge and not deplete in standby and after 3 days it was just in the same 26% I left it. So it definitely is not efficient and you will probably have to be charging it constantly. As others have mentioned, the pool skimmer may make it get stuck and it won't get out until the motor is off, a noodle should've been provided as other robots do.The navigation isn't great, because the sensors are made to stop it from bumping into walls, corners won't get touched and will rely on the movement of the robot making it get out of the corner before it cleans it and by that time it probably will end up at the bottom of the pool. This behavior happens even if you are controlling it, the sensor just stops it at a certain distance from the wall which in my opinion makes no sense since most debris ends up near walls and corners by default. While the sensor blocking walls might not be the worst thing because it may eventually get in the robot's path, the solar charging and battery consumption on standby is just too much. I cannot recommend this robot and will change it for another one that I do not need to take out of the pool to charge constantly.
