"Goodnight Malaysian 370": The Truth Behind The Loss of Flight 370

Next time someone forwards a mail saying "MH 370" and "Diego Garcia"
This handy book is a good and clear headed conjecture into the likely fate of MH 370 and in a world where every conspiracy theorist has gone wild stringing together Freescale Semiconductors, Diego Garcia Military Base, shapeshifting royal family lizards and the Mossad - CIA axis, it's a breath of fresh air to read a well researched account that logically and methodically eliminates what couldn't have happened and in the end posits a theory that is quite likely what will be proved correct if and when the remnants of the missing plane are found.Put simply, the authors build up the chronology of events as they happened and analyse publicly available data from radars, satellites and other sources to understand the sequence of events as they happened. The key point is to realize that MH 370 made 8 changes of direction during its first 3 hours of flight, signifying that someone was deliberately flying the plane in that fashion and thus ruling out bombs or any explosive decompression. Secondly, the very deliberate acts of switching off all the primary as well as backup communication systems of the plane clearly show that no malfunction is likely to have taken place as a modern 777 has enough and more backup systems to compensate for 1-2 frontline modules failing. Hijacking is also very unlikely as a hijackers primary aim is to attract attention and the silent 'ghost' flight would defeat that very purpose. Lastly, the fact that the plane flew for 8 hours after take off rules out a fire on board as planes that are aflame usually crash in 20 minutes.By process of elimination then, deliberate pilot action emerges as the default answer. Much as it may horrify us to contemplate, there have been earlier cases of pilots crashing their own aircraft, in particular, Egypt Air 990 and Silk Air 185. The authors then put forward a scenario where they show how the pilot could have achieved this. The pilot could have depressurised the cabin at high altitude leaving only 30 seconds of reaction time and even those who put their masks on would have had their oxygen run out in 30 minutes. It is quite likely then, in the last 5 hours of its flight, MH 370 was a ghost flight (like the well documented case of Helios Airways 522 though there the depressurization was involuntary) and the captain, who might have been unconscious or might have repressurized the plane after ensuring everyone else was in a hypoxic coma might have been in control at the end to ditch the flight. The scenario drawn up by the authors is compelling and I must confess, I was inclined to believe it even before I read the book since all the logical signs point towards it. However, the method by which the authors arrive at this finding will probably convince most people that the pilot suicide theory is the most probable at present (NOTE: I said 'probable', I realize nothing is conclusive till we find the plane). The constituency of the professional conspiracy theorist is of course unlikely to be swayed as are probably those who find the very thought of a pilot being callous enough to take 230 innocent people along with him too overwhelming. Yet, I think those who are open to reason will be convinced and I think acknowledging this possibility will also provide some closure to the grieving families. My heart goes out to them because they are forced to live with the consequences of one man's irrational actions. The one weakness of this book is that while it attempts to get inside the head of the pilot, as the authors acknowledge, he was a man not too many people know well and reading this book, I didn't get a conclusive insight into the kind of man he was and what were the circumstances in his personal or professional life that led him to commit this act. There is some talk of marital disturbance, some anecdotes of a less than ideal relationship with the kids but nothing that points in the direction of what may have compelled him to do such a thing. I fear that even if we do find the plane and determine that pilot actions were the cause of the crash, the reasons why he did so are something that Captain Zaharie may well have forever taken to the grave.

This was a very interesting and informative book. The author seems to have done a lot of research on his facts and presented itin his view which easily seems probable that was what caused the plane to go missing.

A compelling and believable version of what likely happened to MH370
While it's definitely hard to believe, and my hope is that it isn't true, the authors do a pretty convincing job at explaining that MH370 was brought down by pilot suicide. Sure, there are various other possibilities for the disappearance of this aircraft, however, after reading the book, the only likely scenario is that it was the pilot who brought down the plane on purpose.Even if the remains of the aircraft are found, it will be difficult to come up with a 100% certain cause for the demise of this fly by wire aircraft. The black boxes aren't likely to prove anything one way or the other. It's through the process of elimination that the most likely cause of this tragedy was the pilots desire to end his life.If the above turns out to be true, how terribly sad this is. If the pilot did indeed want to commit suicide, he could have done so without involving hundreds of other helpless souls. If ever proven, this will go down as one of the largest cases of mass murder in world history. Personally, I don't believe that a cause will ever be found, but as mentioned above, it appears highly probable that this was a planned suicide by the pilot and no one else. This was a very interesting read from start to finish.

Easy-to-read and interesting for readers not yet familiar with the known details of the case
I ordered the book because I had developed a particular curiosity about the disappearance of the aircraft. I hoped that the book would contain additional insights, but there was nothing that I could see that was not already in the public domain and discussed in much more detail in Internet forums such as PPRuNE.com.The book is easy-to-read and might be interesting for readers not yet familiar with the known details of the case. Personally, I have been disappointed with the book's rather long and detailed off-topic passages, while the so-called elimiantion process that would lead to the "truth" turned out to be rather short and shallow. I would have expected much more detailed information and a more solid and convincing derivation process.

Great Deep Dive Into MH370 Disappearance
What I liked:-Plenty of technical information but not overwhelmingly.-The author was unafraid to call it the way he sees it. Diplomatic niceties were cast aside as well as mentioning what is considered off limits.-Dispensing with the obviously unlikely scenarios (ones that were pushed by “experts” in government, on tv and in print).-Giving his best estimate of what happened based on the evidence available. What I didn’t like:I have only one minor issue; it needed a better explanation of the satellite arc positioning estimates. From what I had already gleaned elsewhere, round trip handshake time was accurate to pinpoint the general area of the world. But accurate enough to provide a sufficiently small area that would allow ships to find something miles below the ocean’s surface?

Good book, the most likely conclusion (given the evidence that is available) is also perhaps the hardest to try and understand. Yet the authors do a good job explaining why this scenario is the only logical one.

I've read a lot of positive reviews - and yes, it is a good read!
Between the pilot practicing the deliberate ditching into the deep oceanic Pacific fault rift due west of Perth, Australia on his own flight sim at home, the deliberate action of locking the co-pilot out of the flight deck, having extra fuel on board, extra oxygen that was unneeded (per the maintenance flight log), and all the rest of the deliberate things that were done, this pilot performed and executed, this was clear murder-suicide. Period. What I find fascinating is the WSPR technology that pinpointed the clear flight path the HM370 took. Evidently the pilot thought he'd be completely untraceable by manually shutting off the transponders, but failed to take into account the flight being traced by the engines pinging off satellites, and the unmistakable radio interference that was picked up by amateur radio operators that were duly logged.Malaysia isn't interested in conducting another search stating unless there's 'new information' - and there is - the WSPR radio logs should have been followed up by Malaysian authorities because the searches were in the wrong area. There's a gigantic elephant in the room - the real reason Malaysia won't search on their own accord because the truth of the whole situation would be embarrassing for their government. A lot of people have figured out the real reason why behind the pilot's actions 0 the how and the why he did what he did...but not too many people are coming out and stating why lest be called various names by the politically correct. This book is a solid read. I highly recommend this book, and also recommend the YT videos explaining WSPR technology for anyone unfamiliar with this and how WSPR works. Excellent book!

Hudouni act
An excellent rendering of what could have happened to MH 370 analysing various scenerio. The mute pint is, why the caption if decided to do harakiri, should have flown go over 8 hours to the remotest part of the ocean instead of crashing within short period of take off. Suicide decisions are whimsical and carried out immediately to avoid a rethink. Consider the time taken by the other suicide pilots which is a minimal one. Here the captain decides to kill all on board, switches off all gadgets, renders himself incommunicado and goes on a long jaunt in a flying coffin. Something does not jell. Normally one would have left behind a suicide note justifying his decision. It is simply a riddle wrapped in enigma without resolution.

Excellent comprehensive summary
Riveting from start to finish. It gives the human story of the passengers. Advanced several well researched theories. A little less Dr Bellvu Wack would have been good. For the more technical minded there are graphs and maps galore. The best book of its kind on the topic

fantastic read and only possible theorem.
This book highlights and details for me the only possible solution to what happened to mh370. It had to be pilot intervention and nothing else. The book and I have been through every other possible explanation and nothing adds up other than possible pilot suicide/murder.The aircraft we know for certain got lost first at a convenient time between Malaysian and Vietnam airspace. Never in a month of Sunday's is this a coincidence. The facts are staring you in the face. No plane disappears at a convenient gap between airspaces as I read pilots when leaving airspaces contact straight away with no messing. So in theory there is no gap unless the pilot makes a gap and doesn't contact Vietnam airspace.I'm sorry any other theory doesn't work logically or not. Electrical fires, Diego Garcia or fires or shooting down they just don't work. The pilot zaherie performed a fantastic final act as this book suggests and with his skill and age of you look at what actually happened then only one solution. No others actually. The plane is at the bottom of the southern Indian Ocean. Of course no debris to find people tell me well there isn't meant to be. The whole idea was the plane was crashed in tact with the engines ripping off and sinking first and then the fuselage in one piece sinking with everything inside it. How can you find debris of there isn't to find? The plane was sealed. That's the point to it.Obviously he had luck on his side such as no debris as he couldn't be certain of that and he couldn't of been certain of not being tracked by f16 planes. But with his skill and the Malaysians incompetence you will find this was a master stoke by the pilot genius zaherie who was a mentally unstable man in the perfect suicide age range. Recently spilt from his wife and kids had grown up. The facts are as clear as day. Also no coincidence his co pilot was on his first 777 flight and the flight was in the middle of the night. All in all a great read and debunks all these stupid myths from aliens to shot down. Black hole to fires on board. Ask yourself why does the plane end up in the middle of the southern Indian Ocean after 8 hours flying. Reason? It was meant end up there. Not rocket science folks.
