The size, weight, and functionality of this light is amazing for your mobile kit. I was most drawn to the barn doors, which help direct the light and is especially for solo shoots and tight sets. It is great for bouncing colors off a backdrop or adding an effect for the fill or hair lighting in portraits and closeup videos.

If you do photoshoots, having an RGB light is a must-have! I picked up the Godox LC500R Mini RGB LED Light Stick as an accent light for my photo shoots and videos. This light comes in a really nice carrying case, the light itself has barn doors to help you direct the light - they're also removable. There's a battery grip that can be attached and removed. You have so many controls to change the brightness from 2500 ~ 8500K and the shade of each color with 360 variations with 15 different lighting effects. There's also an app you can download to have remote control over the entirety of your light stick.Overall, this is another home run from Godox! If you do any model shooting or studio video work this is a must-have light stick.

Godox has another winner here with this light. Overall, I'd call this an excellent, lightweight and portable light stick. Let me break it down with pros and cons.Pros:1. Light weight and easy to move around with on the go.2. Really good battery life. I never have had it not last through a shoot and it is quick to recharge.3. Dead simple to control and adjust the lighting.4. Barndoors for light shaping and control are integrated.5. Removable and replaceable battery! That hand grip battery will get tired one day and now you can just buy a new one!Cons:1. I was hopeful there would be more light from the stick if I'm honest. A few times I was looking for a little more pop and it just didn't deliver as much as I wanted. For most people and most shots it should be fine but I'd like more.2. Construction feels a little cheap with all the plastic but that's the sacrifice to keep it lightweight and portable. Just understand that you have a plastic product.So what's this light for?I found it really useful to throw splashes of color into shots. A subtle back light or hair light for photos to add some depth. It probably doesn't deliver enough to be your main light but if you need a lightweight fill or a back light, this could be your answer. While not something I used it for, I'm sure for video work this could be a useful creative tool.All in all, great light.

This is a very good RGB light for the price. The build quality is a mix of metal and plastic that feels pretty solid and durable.The light itself is bright, and the colors are saturated. Once you get it set up, it quickly connects to app without issue. The battery life is good. It gives me about 3-4 hours on a full charge. (This will vary depending on brightness and effects being used.) But, even if your battery dies you can still use the light while it is charging via USB. So, in a studio setting this light will run indefinitely. I guess it may overheat at some point, but I haven't noticed the light getting hot at all and overheating seems unlikely in a climate-controlled environment.Getting registered on the app and getting the light linked the first time was a little quirky. The app could definitely stand to be improved. At one point it wouldn't let me continue with registration because it didn't like the password I created ,but I was given no indication as to why I wasn't allowed to proceed after I had filled everything out.After registration, the app worked just fine for the most part. overall, it was pretty intuitive and easy to use and you're able to chose any color imaginable for the RGB light. They have different effects you can choose from and there is a pretty good variety, which include pulsing, color changing, fire, and emergency light effects. It would be nice if you had more control over what speed and colors were used for the different effects. Even on the slowest setting, I found the pulsing effect to be too fast for how I would have liked to use it.While I would like to see some improvements on the Godox app it is still a pretty decent app, and the light itself is excellent for the price. Good build-quality, good battery, nice and bright, and rich colors. Overall, It's 5 stars for me.
