Good picture quality and stability, especially for the price, app is not mandatory for PC
This is way better than the older generic USB microscope, mostly because of the significantly better stand and increased resolution. It also seems to have higher depth of focus, with the old one I could barely get two whole sides of a QFN64 chip to be in focus at the same time. As for the stand, you can indeed get a much better, very stable aluminium stand with a geared height adjustment for both the old and the new microscope, but this only works for looking at things straight from above. This is why the improved metal stand for this microscope is such a big feature - it is at least somewhat stable and allows inspecting things like a phonograph stylus from different angles without having to prop it up on something. The generic stand of other USB microscopes with the plastic claw and two ball joints is absolutely miserable in comparison. So with this microscope you can probably save on the separate upgraded stand, which is a similar cost to the actual device. The phone app works OK, but I find it more comfortable to use with a computer (works as an ordinary webcam). The focus ring is also less annoying than in the old one. Also be aware that the clear plastic funnel can be removed and reattached (not just the cap IN the funnel) if you want to get the microscope closer to the object and there is something in the way. You can use this microscope for coins, post stamps, electronics, and assessing the condition of plant parts, record player styli and shaver blades (included the comparison of old electric shaver blades and brand new ones - there is an immediately visible difference), repairing scratches in vinyl records that skip, among other things. I do recommend the free software called S-Eye, that allows the image to be flipped back to the real orientation, unlike Windows 11 Camera app that only used to have that function. This makes doing actual work on the observed object much easier.

Far Exceeds Expectations for Given Price
The images this little microscope provides are incredible. Given its low price, I did not think it would work too well, but I was wrong. It's not perfect: sometimes the scope connects effortlessly to my phone or tablet, sometimes it doesn't and I have to reconnect it. No biggie there. Now, it says "4K" resolution. Wellllllllll... there are several resolution choices, from 640X480 up to 3840X2160 (4K). After carefully testing and comparing images, I can say that the 4K setting provides a VERY SLIGHT improvement over the lowest resolution. Definitely not what one would hope. In other words, the resolution settings are kind of BS. The focuser can also be a bit finicky. Please note that depending on the objective lens's distance from the subject, there are often two (sometimes three???) places where you can get a sharp image: one low power, and the other close up and much more magnified. Does it really let you see things 1000X bigger? Welllllllll... there's definitely some sleight of hand in that claim. Around 100X (enough power to see all kinds of weird stuff) is more like it, but that number is a lazy guess.Still, I give it five stars. Why? Because it opens up fascinating, satisfying, and sometimes terrifying views of reality; views that are normally impossible, including with traditional microscopes. And it does so at such a low price that you won't have a heart attack when your five-year-old (or your forty-year-old self) drops it in water and destroys it.

Sturdy basic stand
This review is for the Jiusion aluminum alloy microscope stand: Most of the reviews listed are not for this product at all.It is a very basic stand with a single knob to adjust the height by raising and lowering the microscope using a toothed track. The stand itself is made well. It is not a smooth adjustment. If the knob slips into the next tooth when you let go of the knob, there is a small adjustment knob in the back to tighten it in the track. This will take care of any slipping.Does not give you fine adjustment, but works well at lower magnifications like you get with a hand held microscope. Good deal for its price, and especially nice when using with children.

Easy to use and clear images
I had another microscope camera and this one is by far better. It was very easy to install on my android phone. It takes great clear pictures and videos. Absolutely, Amazing buy. Clear images, fun to play with and easy to use. I love it.

If you have a USB scope you NEED something like this.
USB 'microscopes' are very handy things to have for taking a look at small things. But the terrible stands they all come with (as seen in one of my pics with the big red X) just cripple the scopes. They need to be held perfectly still, and at a perfect distance for a specific zoom. If your scope wobbles, the stand doesn't grip the scope well, or is so short you can't get the scope a decent distance from the subject then you're not getting good pictures. This stand is cheap and solid enough - it even fits the very fat Bysameyee 4K scope I bought, seen in the second picture. You just stick the scope in there, use the two screws around the ring to hold it, then use the screw on the left to loosen the grip on the left column, set the height where you need it, gently tighten the screw, and you're done! This stand goes high enough you can get most things you'll want to take a look at underneath the scope. You might think it's bad that the only axis is vertical, but it's not - all these scopes need the bottom of the scope to be perpendicular to the subject, so tilting is worse than useless. If somehow you need to use the scope on something vertical or tilted, well, you'll have to go back to the crappy old stand. Or you could also get a stand that works like an extensible light stand and gives you six degrees of freedom, but be warned those vibrate a lot and change your distance while rotating the zoom collar, which is also bad for your images. Tradeoffs! But for the price this does exactly what I need.It even comes with a little clamshell zipper case - it will only hold the stand and scope if you break the base down (unscrew the base), but it's certainly better than the box the scope came in.
