This item has been on my wish list for months, but I could never quite justify the cost. However, thanks to generous relatives and a recent birthday, I've now got my copy and its everything I'd hoped for. I've not sat down for an in-depth read, so please bear in mind that this review is based on first impressions and initial leaf through.First off, The Book is gorgeous. It looks and feels very satisfactory with a tactile cover, and 'weathered' pages adding to the impression of some ancient tome. The illustrations are intricately detailed combining accurate technical information with flamboyant flourishes that blend traditional illumination with some sly pop cultural references and easter eggs.It arrived in excellent condition with its own storage box, and a post card from the creators, which serves as a handy bookmark; as another reviewer mentioned, if I had one quibble it would be the lack of a sewn ribbon marker but I'm not going to take off a star for that. I think that this is going to be a useful reference resource for years to come, and a nice one to just dip into occasionally. This is one of those items that is not 'only' a book, but a work of art, and its creators and contributors should be proud of what they have made.

I bought this for my boyfriend. He absolutely loves it!Its very pricey though and its the first time I spent this much on a book.I just love the illustrations on it.

I was looking for a coffee table book that wasn't just the usual faff, but actually felt like interesting content as well. This book is absolutely perfect.The book itself contains primarily pictures in a beautiful art style, which together with the "parchment" feeling paper, makes it feel old and impressive. The content is varied, meaning that no matter who is flipping through it, they would find something of interest.The only warning I would give is the size. It measures in at an impressive 35*24cm, meaning that whatever table you place it on will have to be quite large in order to not be dwarfed by this beast of a book.

Amazing artwork

Well a stunning book to be sure and a pleasure to read with the help of some mechanical lifting gear …it’s a fairly hefty tomb, the art is awesome and the textured paper adds to luxurious feel. Unfortunately, I felt compelled to knock off a star ( it should have been 5) because in my opinion if there is one book that deserves at least one ribbon page marker it’s this one …so a little disappointed that there is not at least one sown in ribbon especially for the price tag!

"The Book" is not a cheap product. Accordingly, the shipment package is extremely important. We received the product with a great protection (the book itself completely wrapped with plastic inside the thick cartoon box inside another cartoon box). We received it on time in great condition. Thanks.
