The buckle doesn’t cut into the skin, however, I have found that the strap closest to my foot does rub the top of my foot a little bit after a while of wearing them.

Yes, they are smaller fitting. I had to go a size up.

In my experience they are true to size. I have fairly narrow feet & they fit perfectly
