In love
If loving this Roborock is wrong, I don't want to be right. I think this is the second review that I have ever written in my life about anything, and I am 53, but I just had to do it. I hope this gives some validity to my review. LOL. Since I first saw this type of product, I have always wanted one, but I always hesitated. I finally broke down and bought it. I am not a messy person, but I tend to delay the vacuuming and mopping. First, I want to say that it is very easy to do the setup. I saw a few previous consumer comments about it not connecting with Google home. That is not true. After you install the roborock app, then you just have to go to your Google home app, select the plus sign to add a device, select the option "set up device", select the option "works with Google home", and then scroll forever until you get to the roborock app. Then the device is added. You can rename it if you want to do so. I named mine "David Wallace" because I am a fan of The Office, and he has the invention that "sucks", and also the song that he and his son sings "suck it". So I just have to say, "hey google, have David Wallace clean my house", and she says,"ok.starting David Wallace." I am amazed everyday. The first time that I used it, I was a little bit frustrated and confused. Even though I had read other reviews that this would happen, I still thought it would go smoothly the first time for some reason. It ran around the house like a crazy robot. It was really just mapping out the house like it was supposed to do. The second time was a thousand times better, and after the third time it's been nothing but bliss. Yes, the bin is not that big compared to some other reviews that I have read, and it filled up pretty quickly the first and second time. I did not do any prep beforehand, so I guess that was expected. Ever since, I've been running it at least every other day, and it doesn't fill up so quickly, and I don't have to empty it every time... about ever third time. As for the mopping capability, it is not the same as a person scrubbing the floor. I tend to use the mop mode about every second time that I vacuum. I get that it is just a pad with some water running around my house, but if you continually do it, it's the same as continually vacuuming. You just have to rinse out the mop pad, which shows some dirt, which means it's working. I was surprised that it actually talks. I didn't realize that it had a voice. It will say that it is starting, and it tells you that it's heading back to the dock. I was just surprised when it started talking back to me. Loved it! I have a cat, and I thought she was going to attack the thing at first, but I think she has gotten used to it, and she hasn't damaged it at all. She more or less just follows it everywhere. The app is super cool to watch as it goes through your house. It might just be covid-19 and boredom, but I think I watched it for the first few times the entire time it went around my house. It takes about 43 minutes to do my first floor. I just have a normal size two story house. I haven't tried the upstairs yet, but that is on my list. The charging capacity is awesome! I have never even come close to the battery running low. The mop water capacity is also absolutely fine. I actually use bottled water just because my water is terrible in my neighborhood even with my water softener. I do want to say that I have a multicolored area rug that it doesn't like at all. I read a similar review about this. My rug is black, gray, and white with swirls. It gets confused on the black areas. I think it thinks that it is a void or some type of drop-off, which makes it not fall down the stairs, but it doesn't recognize the black. I just blocked that part out as a no-go zone in the app (super cool and super easy to set up no-vacuum zones and no -mop zones. It's also easy super easy to just have it mop or vacuum a particular zone.). Although that is not ideal, I think it is completely amazing how accurate the laser is . It will literally go on the white and gray swirls and stop and turn around when it gets to the black part. It is some major precision ! I literally have nothing terrible at all to say about this product. I can't believe I waited this long to get one. I have told every single family member and friend about how awesome it is. I don't know anyone else who has a robovac, so I can only speak to this one and my own experience. But I highly recommend it! It also helps me keep my shoes out of the middle of the floor. It will go around my shoes, but the point is it helps me keep the rest of my house tidy so David Wallace can do his job! I hope I didn't ramble too much ;)

Well worth the money!
The media could not be loaded. We have dark wood floors all throughout our home, so let me tell you that when I use our upright vacuum, within 30 minutes we already see dust on the floor again (just part of the deal of dark floors). We don't have any kids or pets, so it's not like there's a good reason for it. After breaking my back vacuuming and mopping on a very, very regular basis - I told my wife we need some kind of robot vacuum.I did a LOT of research on all different brands and models. Everyone knows Roomba...their branding has completely taken over the market. Anyone I know that has a robot vacuum, has a Roomba. It's like Kleenex.Seeing how expensive Roombas are, I did my homework and discovered Roborock, among other brands. For the amount of features you get with the Roborock S5 Max, versus ANY of the Roombas, for a significantly lower price...well it's not even a comparison. Don't be fooled by a brand name...the S5 Max blows any competitor out of the water. We've only had it for a few days, but I've run it a lot already to test it and honestly, play around as well. This is by far a lifesaver, and I can truthfully say that our floors have never been cleaner with such low maintenance.*** Pros ***1. You can run this thing whenever (even when you're not home), in any place, room, zone, etc. - you don't have to do an entire floor when you just want one room or spot.2. My floors have never been cleaner. Simple as that - the suction on this thing is incredible. And it's not very loud at all, especially on "balanced" mode.3. The Roborock app is extremely intuitive and feature-filled. Lots of different options and controls. Takes some getting used to at first, but its great.4. It goes under my bed, nightstands, and dresser - which are places that are a nightmare to vacuum regularly. I didn't even think it would when I first bought it (kind of an afterthought), but I saw it do with my own eyes and that earned a star or two itself. AND it went under my dining tables, in between chairs, to get every spot. As long as the space is wide enough for the robot to get through, it'll clean it. Again - wasn't imaging that it would do that!5. They update the firmware, so you know they are supporting and improving their products. Spending this much from a brand that isn't as well known is a risk, but that part at least made me more comfortable. Also, there is a subreddit for Roborock, where you can get some support and learn more.6. I have a roughly 3/4-inch room transition between my mud room and kitchen...and I was worried the robot wouldn't climb it. Silly me, this thing goes right over it! Doesn't mean it will do it with any transition, maybe it's the shape of mine...no idea, but it does it with ease!*** Cons *** (Mind you I still gave a 5-star rating, so these aren't deal breakers by any means, more of an FYI)1. I can echo what some of the reviewers said about how this isn't truly "mopping". You cannot use any cleaner, polish, or disinfectant with it (good idea for the future for them though, along with an additional revenue stream) - it's just running a damp cloth over the floor. So you will still have to do old fashioned mopping, or Swiffering, or something once in a while to really clean the floors. But it's fine for maintenance. AND I knew that before I bought it - know one should buy this thinking that it's going to truly mop.2. You'll see in the photo I uploaded, that when it mops, it doesn't get within 4-6 inches of the edge. Not a huge deal, but something to know prior to buying.3. Although it did a great job mapping my different floors (yes, multi-floor mapping is available now on this model), when I tried to run it on a different floor a second time...it kept getting lost. It took a few tries to get it to clean that room. But maybe that will get better as it maps the floors more - time will tell.4. You have to take the mop attachment off when you just want to vacuum, especially on carpet, unless the attachment is 100% dry.5. The more often you run it, the sooner you'll have to change out parts like filters or the brushes. There is a "maintenance" section of the app that tells you the remaining life expectancy of different parts (which is a pro).*** Final Thoughts ***I would buy this again without hesitation, it's just that good. Nothing feels better than walking barefoot on always "just cleaned" floors. If you don't need the mopping function, definitely look at the Roborock S4. That was my runner up.
