Stinky as expected
After hearing about surstromming and reading about how it is so stinky it is actually banned in certain countries, I had to see for myself. It arrived quickly in it’s iconic red can. The expiration date was on the can and it wasn’t expired so I figured id give it a try once I open. I would highly recommend opening it outside because it can get messy due to the pressure build up from the fermentation process. Absolutely a horrendous smell. Definitely a fun gag gift or a funny prank!

TOTAL BUST!!!
The big buildup (viewing online reactions including those who really like this stuff. I'm Norwegian, used to smelly fish, had to eat lutefisk every Christmas and am a VERY adventurous eater) got the can - bulging hugely, opened it underwater had rye bread, sour cream, dill and red onions ready to use for smorgas. Opened the can and...........NOTHING BUT STINKY LIQUID AND BONES. No fish or remnants of fish just grey liquid and bones. Didn't even smell THAT bad, though there ARE a bunch of vultures now circling where I dumped the water, so there's that - BUT - SOOOO disappointed - RIP OFF!

Absolutely loved it
Product consisted from 8 whole fish ( without heads) ,they were as fresh as they can be. Bought this as suprise gift ,the product had a few dents, otherwise everything as one could imagine, smelly and interesting

Great product, strong smell!
It smells, no surprise there!Did the job, was a great gift . We opened it at the birthday party. Thankfully outside. Some could tolerate it fine, others had a hard time with the smell.

Got a bad can I guess
Mine was spoiled, based off videos of people eating this. I had no solid fish just nasty scraggly chunks of maybe meat, lots of bones, and very turbid juice with lots of loose solids.

Delicatese
DelicateseDo not pop the lid and eat it straight from the can ! Thats not have it is meant.Carefully rinse it in water, then eat it outside with proper additions. Then it becomes somewhat an adventure and interesting event with friends
