Marriage Saver
This diminutive little rubber disc has saved my marriage. It’s weight and price belies its value in marital harmony, plus it stops the irritating (nah, infuriating) constant tinkling from the cistern as the water-closet’s life-essence ebbs away between flushes. My previous attempts at cleaning and reversing the original diaphragm met with limited success and only temporary respite from the tinnitus-like incessant ringing sounds. On a positive note, the ever present sound of running water certainly kept us all regular in our visits to the loo. After biting the bullet and purchasing a new diaphragm (which arrived replete with its own bespoke transparent plastic containment device, or plastic-bag) fitting it in place was surprisingly easy, a task I think I could have comfortable executed without resorting to pawing through the numerous Siamp technical/maintenance movies online. I can now relieve myself and flush with impunity, puffing out my chest as I exit the throne room, safe in the knowledge that scowls and pursed lips will no longer ensue. I am again a man. Fixed the leak!
I could hear water dripping constantly into the toilet bowl. After I turned off the water supply to the cistern I found the cistern completely empty by the next day. I removed the main flush assembly and realised the large washer at the bottom of the assembly was the most likely problem. I ordered the new washer which arrived promptly. It’s perhaps just a little awkward to get the large clip back to hold the washer in place. Once installed the problem the problem was fixed.
