Inspiring and life enriching maths
I’m rediscovering mathematics and bought 'The Beauty of Numbers in Nature' as an early self-Christmas present. It’s a stunning book. The production values are through the roof (breathtaking full colour illustrations throughout will have you lingering, lost in wonder) but this is far more than eye candy; the writing and ideas Ian explores are deep and exciting. It’s a book I have no doubt I’ll return to.

NOT HAPPY.... This is a rehash of an earlier book "What Shape is a Snowflake"
NOT HAPPY.... This is a rehash of an earlier book "What Shape is a Snowflake" - which I already purchased. To be fair this is stated in the Preface, but that was too late! This is becoming an annoying theme, I also purchased Philip Ball's "Patterns in Nature: Why the Natural World Looks the Way it Does" - which turns out is ALSO a rehash - of his earlier book "The Self Made Tapestry".One rehash on this topic seems a bit unnecessary - but TWO.... makes one suspicious!

An inspiring and accessible book on mathematics in nature.
Ian Stewart seems to have written an infinite number of books on mathematics in a Herculean effort to popularise the subject. His latest is a clearly written, wide-ranging and well- illustrated account of the mathematical patterns and principles that exist in the natural word.'The Beauty Of Numbers In Nature'(2018) is one of Ian Stewart's most accessible books on mathematics which deserves to be read by those who usually have an aversion to the subject.
