Satone S804 Hex Octave Fuzz Electric Guitar Effect Pedal - Classic Octave Fuzz Effect Preset Acoustic Metal Pedal with True Bypass

For $30 or less, this is one of the better high-gain/metal distortions I've used. For general metal-playing use, it beats my HM-2W (which I use for one specific sound at the low end of its gain range) and is way more pleasant to use than the old MT-2 I got from a so-called friend for $20.With the gain at about 10 o'clock and the mids scooped a tad, it sounds like the Crue back in the 80s. Crank the gain and push mids some and you djent to your heart's content. The mids knob in particular is very effective at dialing in different tones. The pedal sounds good into a tube amp and and also sounds good into a JC-40, which is telling. The Roland's almost clinical approach to sound means you are hearing everything the pedal is doing. A lot of famous pedals that sound great with other amps, like Rats, fall flat with the jazz chorus. The Satone sounds pretty rich and layered, albeit bright and a buzzy through that amp (cutting the treble on the guitar fixes it).Everything feels solid and the bypass switch doesn't sound like a bomb going off when you hit it (unlike the PGL High Gain pedal, which I believe is related, more expensive and worse). For $30 this is a great bargain pedal that stands up to costlier name-brand competitors.

I bought this to replace my Dark Mouse pedal. The Neotoma is a perfect clone to use in place of a Rat pedal. It costs half as much as a new Rat. It features 2 switches, one to choose the opamp and one to switch between normal/fat modes. It sounds absolutely great on everything. As an overdrive it is bliss, providing crackling breakup and gives any instrument warm character. Just like a real Rat, high gain is aggressive fuzz distortion. This can be noisey as background noise is made louder along with instrument signal. There's a filter knob that acts as a lowpass filter which can help you trim the harshness (though you lose high end this way). I run my Volca Bass through this and it sounds slightly better than the dry signal, bassy warm slightly crackling

Very inexpensive, decent distortion pedal. I was able to dial in a full, saturated distortion sound by setting the mid knob at 11 and then the high knob around 9 on a clock with the “Dirt” (gain) knob set to 3. It sounds pretty processed with the mids and high knobs turned all the way up in my opinion. Sounds subjective what one person likes another person will. I Need to try the pedal in different parts of my effects chan since it’s fairly noisy where I currently placed it. The noise is the only reason I’m giving this pedal 4 stars- if was quiet I’d give it a 4.5. It’s not a Boss or other high-end pedal but it really does the trick for the low price.I wasn’t expecting much for only $30, but I’m quite surprised and happy with the tones this Riffer pedal pumps out. The metal chassis is light and fairly small yet it seems durable, and the 4 knobs have good tension and response. I have tons of pedals and over 100 guitars, but I’ve never tried this company Satone before. I will try more of their pedals now. Happy with my purchase.

I hate to give even a slightly negative review of this pedal. It is a solid fuzz/distortion that can do anything from modern metal and doom to '70s acid rock. It sounds great. The problem and the reason I returned it is that it is not an octave fuzz as it claims to be which is what I was wanting to buy.Don't be fooled but also, don't pass on it if you want a solid fuzz/distortion pedal. It really does sound awesome and the value for the money is insanely good.

This noise gate, unfortunately, fails in almost every area. It's not really usable for any purpose unless you just want a mute button. Even then...The minor issues:1) It's an incredibly slow gate. If you're looking for a faster gate for quick attack this is not it. It's surprisingly sluggish.2) It cuts off the high end of your tone when engaged. This is noticeable enough that it even strips the treble out of distortion pedals, and it's not subtle. It sounds really bad.The major issue:Even if you turn the control knob all the way to the left, on 0, it will cut out your signal LONG before it even starts to trail out. Even on a guitar with loud humbuckers - You'll only get a few seconds to let your chords ring out before it starts to cut the signal.This is really unacceptable, especially when you have the knob at 0%. On a good noise gate I expect 0% to pretty much mean the pedal is off, but unfortunately the Stilhed still activates prematurely.Caline has a good idea going with the Satone line. They're really cool and gothy, would fit on a lot of alternative or even metal boards. Unfortunately, the Stilhed is a really poor showing and feels rushed. Did no one test this circuit? Between this and the Spiritwalker being mislabeled as a Reverb it doesn't really instill a lot of confidence for the other circuits in the series.EDIT: So Satone reached out to me and offered a different pedal. I eventually accepted the Mandarin Overdrive Preamp. Circuit wise it's an awesome BB Preamp clone and sounds great! Unfortunately, after a couple months the footswitch has become intermittent and does not work every time it is pressed. At least this is a QC problem over a design problem, but unfortunately it means I'm not able to change my review in any significant way.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the distortion and how quiet the pedal is! I would not say this is a versatile pedal, it does medium to high gain and it does it well. The distortion to me sounds like a cross between a rectifier and an ENGL.

All of the Satone pedals sound phenomenal! Make sure to look at the video clips that are provided on each pedals page. They are cost effective and sound better than the high priced name brand pedals.

Not to sure how to use this pedal since as a delay pedal it's only good for playing slowly. If you set the rate up to high, or play fast it starts screeching.
