Recommended Uses For Product | Tips - Note that this donut dog cone with a shield may not suit dogs with high snouts, long legs, tails, or bodies, such as Afghan hounds, Dachshunds, Dalmatians, Dobermans, and Great Danes. Even with a donut cone for dogs, improper fit, persistent behavior, or unique conditions can allow dogs to lick their wounds. To minimize this risk, fit the cone accurately, regularly inspect it for wear or damage, and closely monitor your dog's behavior, especially during initial wear. |

Comfortable
This collar worked well after my dog had knee surgery. The vet used a plastic cone which Finley hated. He kept running it around the edge of the playpen trying to push the cone off. I purchased the collar and, after an adjustment period, success. He uses the inflatable collar like a pillow and can easily eat and drink with the collar around his neck. I can tell he doesn't hate it due to the fact that he now waits to have it put on and doesn't try to get away. I have been using the collar for 2 weeks and still no complaints,I have an 19lb Westie and purchased the M+ which I thought was a bit loose at first. I tried the Medium but that was too small and he was able to reach his incision. The collar comes with a detachable guard which I never had to use.Item is well made. Velcro on both ends to connect plus a velcro strap that goes through a ring to tighten. Be sure to squeeze the valve for easy inflating. I would highly recommend this product.

Comfortable and useful
My dog is over 100 lbs so the big cone from the vet was too inconvenient. I like this better, plus it serves as a pillow as well. The only downside is that the plastic has a gap, I would have liked for it to be all around. I like that it has a strap to hold it closed because the velcro on the inside got full of fur and is practically useless. Plus if your dog has a bigger neck the strap adjusts to that. We got the largest size and it fits perfectly, I leave a small gap so that my dog doesn't feel uncomfortable. (Please note that my dog was still drowsy from her surgery, don't judge her)

Not effective, plastic is soft and very pliable. Needs a number of improvements.
I was hoping this would be a more comfortable collar for my 8 month, 16 lb puppy who just had surgery vs the regular hard plastic collars that dogs receive from the vet's office. The donut inflated easily while pinching the valve open. The fabric on the donut is very soft and velvety. The plastic around the top edge of the donut is too flexible and pliable. It is also not high enough to block the dog, and is very easy to push out of the way. Also, there is an opening in the donut and plastic to enable fastening the cone/donut around the dog's neck. As the cone/donut rotates around the dog's neck, it allows the dog to push through the opening flap making easy access to the surgical site.As soon as we had the donut collar fastened to my dog, we knew it wouldn't work. He aggressively pushed through the plastic shield to the surgical sight and began licking. The open flap of the clear plastic was behind his head.We assembled and fastened the collar according to the included directions. Also, before we could remove the collar to fasten the old fashioned one, my dog pushed it off over his head with his hind feet. It took all of 1 second after he managed to set his hind feet on the bottom of the donut portion of the collar. The cone/collar was attached, as directed, to my dog's collar, which was a bit tighter than we normally keep it. I was concerned that it might be too tight. I feel there is too much give in the inflatable donut even when it is fully inflated. Maybe add a stiff plastic piece beneath the fabric of the donut? To sum it up, the plastic shield needs to be stiff and immovable, the opening in the collar/cone needs a fastener of some sort especially across the plastic shield, the inflatable donut needs to be redesigned to remove the platform like shape on the bottom, making it more difficult to push off of the head.I cannot recommend this product. It needs improvements.

Works well.
Super soft fabric, easy to use, dog actually didn't mind wearing this cone. I wish the plastic was a bit more firm but over all it did is job.

Tube gone astray!
Another one bites the dust just amazing item but bends to easily for my German Shepherd and doesn’t keep them from hot spots and I have replaced 3 tubes cause they are perfect for a little dog I’m sure.

Good for both of us!
Pretty good solution! It’s easy to take on and off and seems a great deal more comfortable than the usual cone. The velcro is strong, the cone is just high enough that he can’t reach his wound. My dog is a rottie and he is doing pretty good with the whole thing, he hasn’t been able to lick but then again, he is not really trying that hard either.

A lot of problems!
In theory, this is better than the annoying cones, but it's been 1 problem after another. I purchased this for my 9 month old border collie/catahoula male puppy after he was neutered. Within the first 12 hours: It rotated so he was able to get his face through the opening, that's supposed to be at the back, and was able to lick himself. I added some Velcro to keep that part closed. Then, he easily got the tube off of his head so I attached a long ribbon to the back of it, ran it behind his front legs then tied it, to keep the tube from coming off his head. Then, he chewed on the plastic part(that's at mouth level) so I had to use duct tape to reinforce it. THEN, the tube deflated so my dog was able to lick his stitches, AGAIN. It has several pin sized holes around the seams. I tried to cover the holes with duct tape but it didn't work. All of this within the first 1/2 day. I had one of these that I'd used for my last dog but it didn't have the plastic guard so my dog could still reach his stitches. The inflatable part, from the old one, is much better quality than this one so I put that in this one. I feel like I had to completely rebuild and modify this so it's really not worth it. Vets send our dogs home, after a surgery, with a cone for a reason; they work. They may be annoying but at least they work and you don't have to constantly worry that your dog will get to it's stitches. I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because, with my modifications, it may work. Seriously, just use the cone!

He'll actually wear it
My big (140lb) dog won't wear a regular e collar, he just sits and growls and cries for hours. Won't eat, won't lay down. With this, he does extremely well. He comes to us and willingly let's us put it on! He's able to eat/drink and lay relatively comfortably, though we do take it off at night to make sure his breathing is completely unrestricted. We haven't tried it with the plastic added yet, but so far we are very happy.
