Perfect fit, blocks the draft.
Best decision I ever made shopping on Amazon. Used the magnet attachments. Fits perfectly over our fireplace & you almost done notice it being there It completely stopped the draft caused by our HVAC return pulling in could air during the winter. Cut back on noise from the outside. Its even kept our new curious puppy from noticing the fireplace at all.

The easy fix we needed
We had been walling off our fireplace with a small fence, but this cover was the easy fix we needed. It was simple to install and easily removable, and it doesn’t give our fireplace an unsightly appearance.

Does a good job, but room for improvement
How I arrived at my overall rating: ***** (4.25 stars rounding to 4 stars)Value **** (4 stars)Purchase price: $36.99It's a little more expensive than others of the same size, but this one actually has a nice weight to it, meaning it can stay in place a little better.Quality/Durability ***** (5 stars)Duration of use: 20 monthsHappy with the quality.Ease of Use/Assembly/Install: **** (4 stars)It was easy for myself to install, but mine was on a marble firepace so the adhesives would work on it. If it were stone or brick or some other kind of rough material, you would need to find an alternative way of mounting (maybe masonry screws?)Usefulness/Appearance/Fun Factor: **** (4 stars)Keeps the draft out in the Winter and the warm air out in the Summer. Bottom can get pushed in when vacuuming.Note, I would add a brace onto the bottom of the fireplace opening so the cover has attachment points 360deg.

Where has this been the last 25 years?! 😂
Holy smokes is this thing amazing! We have a wood burning fireplace and one thing I’ve hated about enjoying a fire in the evening is knowing that when I go to sleep at night, the flue remains open resulting in cold air coming in. It’s a mad dash in the morning to shut the flue and get the living room back to a decent temperature. We’ve been looking into installing glass doors, but it seems like unless I want to invest (they ARE an investment) $800 in custom doors that don’t shrink the opening of my fireplace, I’d just need to continue to deal with the cold air. Then I discovered THIS! We have it stuck straight to our brick covering the fireplace opening & then our screen snug up against it. I love that when we go to sleep at night, I can spritz any remaining coals with water, put the blocker up & go to bed. No drafts in the house & peace of mind that I can safely go to bed without the fear of popping embers or blasts of cold air billowing in. It’s shocking how, even with the flue closed & the blocker up, how much cold air comes out when I start to remove the blocker to make a fire. That flue isn’t as efficient as I once thought. My ONLY complaint is how easily the Velcro comes off the brick as I remove the screen. I have to be very careful. But that’s okay….im going to use a strong adhesive on the back of the Velcro so that’s not a big deal.I LOVE this draft blocker! Buy it! Dont hesitate - buy it now.

I'm a believer and what else I've done to lower our energy bill
Background: we live in the S.F. Bay Area and our house is just over 1,700 sq ft. and is insulated in the walls and attic. After my $427.97 energy bill for the month of November I was desperate to make changes that would really make an impact on my energy bill. Found this fireplace blanket online and decided to give it a try. My fireplace is tiled over so no metal. This particular blanket comes with velcro so I decided to try it. After cleaning the tile with soap and water and then a quick swipe with rubbing alcohol for good measure, it literally took less than 3 minutes to install. That was a week ago. Before putting up the blanket we set the thermostat at 71 degrees in the morning. When it reached that temp and shut off it would take about 20 minutes to go down to about 66 degrees. Now, when we wake up, the thermostat is at 70 degrees. We don't have to turn it on the entire day. I can't believe how much of a difference this has made. I haven't gotten the bill for December yet but I'm anxious to see it. ALSO.... need to be transparent here. The same day I put up the fireplace blanket I also put up weather stripping on the doors. AND....I bought two lanterns from Costco that can be charged either by solar, usb, or batteries. These are extremely bright (2000 lumens) and we find very few needs to turn on the lights. All of these together should have a nice impact on my next bill. Still, I believe the fireplace blanket has made the most impact, especially on our comfort.
