CANSON XL Sketch 90gsm A4 Paper, Fine Grain, Spiral Pad Short Side, 120 Ivory Sheets, Ideal for Professional Artists & Illustrators

This is a lovely sketchbook for sketching with pencil and light pens. The pages are on the thinner side but good quality - great for drawings but not suitable for paint or pens that tend to bleed through paper. The pages are a slightly creamy off-white which is lovely. I don't use the book for anything too serious, just sketches, ideas and notes which it's perfect for. Overall a great book for the purpose.

This is a perfectly good sketchbook as all Canson products are of high quality, but do be aware the paper at this weight is thin enough to see through and depending on what work you do, it might not be feasible to use both sides of the paper.Personally I much prefer the Canson XL Drawing pad. With this one you go from 61lb paper upto 98lb which is a big difference, the paper isn't see through and will easily be useable double-sided. Yes you get half the amount of sheets so it probably works out the same, but personally I prefer drawing on the higher-quality paper. Currently as I write this the price difference between the A4 pads is within £2 and i've seen it as close as £1 before, so to me it's a no brainer to get the XL Drawing over the XL Sketch, even if sketching is all you plan to do.

Great quality for the price and you get loads of paper, texture is great for pencil sketching. Copic markers will bleed into the other side but the paper does hold it all well.

the paper isn't very nice to work on, but can still use it for minor doodles
