Bought feb 2012 seems manufactured end 2011

Q: Does it detect water leaks?

It can help 'locate' a water leak problem by detecting moisture in unwanted areas.

Q: i have steam and condensate line 1 foot to 6 feet underground the steam is at 400 deg F and the condensate is 150 deg F. will this see them?

The short answer is, it depends. Maybe if the pipe closer to 1 foot rather than six feet, or if the pipe temperature closer to 400 instead of 150...A thing to note. This device will not show you an image of the underground pipe itself. But because it's ultra-sensitive at measuring surface temperature, it will likely show you the vicinity of ground above it due to the heat that radiates from it. And how well the area shows up depends on those factors plus things like the density, type and moisture of the soil, since conductivity of heat is a factor, as well as, the outside temperature and any obstructing ground material, such as leaves or grass.So if, for example, an uninsulated 2 1/2-3" or more pipe @ say 1-2 ft. under is closer to the 3-400 degree range consistently for a few hours and is packed with dense claylike soil without much vegetational obstruction, then the area will likely show up well on a cool/mild day if you're able to get up a good 10-20' elevation to see the whole surrounding area for measurement comparison. Again, it all depends. Deeper than 2 ft is is questionable performance in almost any case since the ground is such a good insulator. This device would suit you better if you've already determined generally where to dig, and now you need to know if you're getting close and the directional accuracy. That's where its area measurement mode feature really shines. Good luck!

Q: What kind of range does this have? Trying to find a cat who hiding out in the woods next to the house. Could this pick up a cat at 50'-75' away?

i need to find a cat also,i think its under the house, did you find your cat? did you use the imager to look through the floorboards, im sure mine is under the floor and i want to make sure this camera will work on the flooring
