So happy with this tea kettle
We are new to tea drinking but as we learned more about different teas and their different temps, decided to look for an electric tea kettle with variable temp settings. The first one we purchased had many features we found useful but unfortunately it was not well made and after going through 2 in 4 months, asked for a refund and started looking for a replacement. Here are the features we wanted and this one had them all:* Multiple Presets (has 4 presets, each can be reprogrammed to fit your temp needs)* Digital screen showing both current and set temp's* 1-degree incremental temperature control* Keep Warm of decent length (2 hrs in this case)* Boil Dry Safety Protection* Decent capacity (in this case 1.7 liters)* Decent wattage (in this case 1500 W)The base unit looks very attractive. The Push Button lid is easy to use and stays open while filling. The kettle also remembers the last temp used and will use that the next time (unless overridden) which is handy.Wasn't sure about the whole smart app feature as it seemed like overkill for a tea kettle, but have found it very handy and can be used to remote start the kettle so water is ready when you get to it. For most things you don't need the app and can do at the kettle, some things do require the app. We have it linked it in to Google so can just say "Turn on the tea kettle". We have not fully explored the app so I am sure there are other useful features as well. Some have mentioned the fill meter is hard to read since its behind the handle. To be honest, I don't even look at it any more. Once you've used it a few times, its easy to know about where to fill to. Some kettles we considered had a fill line bar sticking out that we really did not care for as you have to deal with it when cleaning so the fill being behind the handle is less an issue.I do have one issue with this kettle that I wish were different. Its not enough to take it to 4 stars, but I wish they had not gone this route. For the higher temps, the Keep Warm feature is a bit odd. It IMMEDIATELY kicks in as soon as the water reaches the desired temp. The problem is that the highest Keep Warm temp is 200 degrees - the reason is so that it doesn't boil for 2 hours which I totally understand. But practically its a bit irritating. So if you do say black tea at 212 degrees, just as soon as it hits 212 degrees it goes into Keep Warm mode and starts cooling off to 200 degrees. So unless you are standing next to the pot at that time with everything ready for the water, the temp will be much lower when you are ready to use it. There does not seem to be an easy way to get the temp back up (I tried customer support but they did not seem to understand the issue). I either have to use the app to get it to reheat or turn it off and back on to cancel the Keep Warm and get it heating again. My suggestion if they are reading this is a Hold time of 5 or 10 minutes before it goes into Keep Warm mode.As I said, its an irritant. but I can live with it; the other features more than make up for this one shortcoming. I am truly happy with the kettle and highly recommend it.

Wanted a networked kettle for a long time
I've wanted a network connected kettle for a long time, but few are made sadly. I get the logistical concerns, not enough water or boiling it out could be a problem, but Govee seems to have worked around that by adding a water sensor. It still tells you not to start it without water, but it should detect if there isn't water and stop heating. It has worked great for me and I just refill it after using it most of the time so it's ready to go. Functionally it's pretty simple, hit the on button, hit the mode button to cycle to the temp you want, use the +/- buttons to fine tune the temperature. That's if you are using it at the device. The beauty of this thing is I can sit in bed in the morning and use the app to turn it on before I get moving so it's ready for my coffee or tea by the time I get to the kitchen. Or better yet, I can schedule it to cut on the night before so the water is ready without me thinking about it in the morning. In the afternoons, on the way home, I can just access Google Assistant once I'm getting close and have it turn the kettle on. Once the water is ready, the kettle beeps and I get a notification on my phone, which is nice.Via the app, you can tweak the preset temperature names (name only matters in the app) and target temps. As well as flag a preset as being for baby formula, so it will boil the water, then cool down to the target temp. You can also turn keep warm on/off and adjust how long it stays warm (1, 1.5, and 2 hours). There is a brewing timer function in the app you can use to time your tea/coffee while you wait on it, though I normally use Alexa for that purpose. You can also adjust other settings, turning the beep on the kettle off for when water is ready, turning off the notification on your phone (separate options for these), and change your temperature units (F vs C).A couple things I wish were a little different. Small nitpick, but I can't tweak the target temperature on the kettle itself once it has started warming without pressing something else before pressing +/-. So if I start it heating to 212, then decide I'm just doing coffee and want to quickly tap - to bring it down to 175, I have to turn it off and back on first usually. The other thing that I would like to see is the ability to control this via the API, right now I can only do it via the Govee app (as of 8/18/2023), Alexa, and Google Assistant. I'd love for it to be exposed on their API so I could integrate it with home assistant.Overall I'm very happy with this kettle, it's kinda been a dream product forever.

Best kettle I’ve ever owned!
I use this kettle every single day! Actually, multiple times a day. I haven’t set up the app feature even though it was a selling point for me so I can’t attest to how that works. But I love the different temperature settings with the push of a button bc I often make different teas that use different water temps and sometimes make coffee so it’s nice to easily rotate through to the temp I want. I love the large lid opening and the capacity size is excellent-like I said we use this a lot! It heats up quickly even when filled to max capacity which is great when cooking and I want to pre boil water-way faster than my gas stove. By far my favorite feature is that it keeps the water to temp (except set to full boil) for 2 hours. I can’t tell you how many times I’ll start it first thing in the morning and walk away and get distracted. The sound of it reheating to stay at temp usually reminds me that I forgot to make my tea (ADHD much🙃) Even if I come back 40 minutes later it’s still ready to go; can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to reboil and then forget again and again to make my drink with other kettles. Love the look of it and it’s super easy to clean. The clear water level indicator along the handle side is easy to read so I know when to refill. I only wish it had an auto off when the water was below the minimum amount but not a deal breaker for me. I’ve had it for ages and it has held up and looks like new. The cord length is quite long for me but you can secure a portion under the heating element if you don’t need it which is nice.
