Do you have to actually program the door bell to work or will just wiring a bell all that is required?

For this Retekess T-AC04 access control keypad, you don't have to program the door bell, when you want to use the door bell, you just need to connect the pink wire to the bell.

Can this keypad be used to program rfid cards or do i need a separate reader/writer?

Question 4

The manual states the light should be yellow while in programming mode. It is stays red. Is that an error in the manual?

The manual of Retekess T-AC04 is correct, please note the following different modes and corresponding indicators:
1. Enter the programming mode: After entering the programming password and pressing # to end, the indicator light will flash green and then turn red.
2. Programming mode: Before selecting a specific function for programming, the indicator light is red, and then the indicator light is yellow when entering the corresponding number to enter the programming function.
3. Exit the programming mode: short press the * key to exit the programming function indicator light is red, short press the * key again, the red light flashes to exit the programming mode.
For the change of the specific indicator light, please refer to the video of changing the password.
