CHRISTOW Parasol Base 35kg, Heavy Duty Round Plastic Garden Umbrella Holder Stand, Water Sand Filled, For 38mm and 48mm Poles

This is an economical base which will, when filled with water, weigh enough to keep my large parasol under control in most mildly windy conditions.I like the design which is thoughtfully made. When empty it's light and I can use the moulded handle underneath to carry it easily. Filling is simple through the top filling hole, which has a rubber bung to stop water from spilling or evaporating.The central mounting has a steel tube with two width adapters to suit different diameters of poles. The mount is fixed to a steel plate underneath the base so that the parasol can't lift out in a high wind once fixed with the side screw. Clear and simple instructions come with the base and an Allen key is included to fix the bottom screw of the mounting tube.Storage in winter is simple, with the water poured out and the base stood on its side, when it doesn't take up much room in the shed or garage.This is tough and economical product that does a simple and effective job to keep me safe from sun and wind. Every year my garden parasol would fall over at the slightest hint of breeze and then came along this BEAST! Filled it with water and I’m confident this thing could withstand a hurricane. Very pleased

Offers a good weight to counter extended parasol, but could be considered is a little large for the purpose, particularly if your patio is on the smallish size. Depends on how you view the sturdiness required to offset wind on the parasol.Nevertheless am pleased that it more than covers this objective. Overall appearance of base is generally good and with sand or other ballast put in it is sturdy.Hole for sand to go in could ne bigger, was a bit fiddly. Designed inset to base to assist in manually moving is a good feature.
