Excellent bit of kit
Ignore the 1 star review one someone who apparently threw their toys out of the pram when It didn't meet his own very specific needs.This is an excellent bit of kit, perhaps on the pricey side, but it is made in Italy rather than some Far Eastern sweatshop. It's great for improving stability when shooting video. Has a nice fluid action and allows you to stand the monopod up briefly while changing cameras. It's not intended to replace a tripod though and support the monopod unattended with a camera attached.

Ideal for purpose
Terrific base for the Manfrotto monopod. Used for stills rather than video at local sporting events & I love it. Not cheap but great quality.

Great product. Looks brand new, works with an xpro body almost as good as the copmlete monopods
Great product. I coupled it with a 5 section xpro manfrotto monopod and it works almost like the complete kit. One thing I didn't like is that when inserting the black screw part to connect to the monopod there is slight wiggle room causing a free play of 1-2 cm at the tips of the legs. When starting a pan I need to twist a bit until the free play is over and the fluid drag starts to work. the complete mvmxpro500 monopod does not have this wiggle issue.

Well packaged, speedy delivery and quality build to this item. Already used for a wedding shoot and performed well, met expectations. Very happy with this purchase.

Utter waste of money.
I'm disabled and have to use a monopod I thought this would be the answer to hold it steady but made it worse it's over thought over designed and rubbish PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY.

A very smooth product, but overpriced and not stable enough.
While this product has restored life into my XPRO Photo monopod, I think that it is wildly overpriced. For the money you'd spend on a monopod and this, alongside a video head to put on top, you are looking at the same price of one of Manfrotto's own video monopod kits.Also, while the base locks easily, it still has a tendency to wobble and I would feel uncomfortable leaving it alone with a camera on top. This issue also ruins the fluidity of the fluid cartridge at the bottom, as the camera's weight is shaking the whole monopod.
