A new job for Scott
Another Marvel comics movie. And it introduces their smallest hero to the big screen.Scott Lang [Paul Rudd] was a hacker who took it to the corporations. And ended up in jail as a result. Having lost his family in the process, he finds it hard to adjust to life back on the outside. Where his friend Luis [Michael Pena] is trying to tempt him back off the straight and narrow.Doing just that leads him to a very special suit. That lets the wearer shrink down to the size of an ant. But all this is part of a plan. From inventor Dr. Hank Pym [Michael Douglas] who needs Scott's help with something...Whilst not as big name a character as those in the Avengers films, this follows last year's Guardians of the Galaxy in being a film that comes out much better than you might have expected. Simply because it gets away from being a chapter in a bigger storyline and ending with people fighting while things fly around shooting, in order to tell a solid character based story of one man becoming a hero. And most importantly, in the process..It's fun.Paul Rudd is very adept at the light comedy that the role offers. But that doesn't take anything away from the central character arc, as it's played just as much for drama as laughs. The balance is spot on. Even his three comic sidekicks are genuinely funny when they could have been annoying. It has a villain who really does carry some menace. And it's a caper movie. Which means things have to be planned and people train for them, then everything goes wrong and those involved have to improvise. Which makes for great drama and suspense. All leading to an action finale that is different from what has become the usual end to Marvel films. Which is very refreshing, and a great watch because of that. There's just one scene which ties it with other movies. Which might seem a bit forced at first glance, but...you'll see.A fun film. Great entertainment as a result. Well worth five stars. There are two extra scenes around the credits. One during the middle of them. Which you will see coming. And one at the very end. Which won't make much sense at present. But will this time next year, once you've seen the next Captain America film. The disc begins with a single trailer, which can be skipped via the next button on the remote. Said trailer is in the sneak peeks section of the disc anyhow. The language and subtitle options are as follows:Languages: English, Hindi, Castilian Spanish.Subtitles: English, Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian, Portugese, Castilian Spanish, Swedish. The dvd has no extras whatsoever.

Proof of the Maxim:"The Best Thnings Come In Small Packages"
Having missed the cinema release of this installment from the "Marvel Cinematic Universe", I wasn't quite sure what to expect - the reviews were favourable yet at the same time the movie had the hint of being "B-League" material behind the likes of Iron Man, Captain America and the Avengers movies. So it was a very pleasant surprise to find a very well crafted, well written and humourously produced movie, helped by absolutely top-notch casting and a director with a perfect sense for gentle humour.Paul Rudd both surprised and delighted as a down-on-his-luck burglar who happened to pick on the wrong house to burgle... Michael Douglas is perfect as a curmudgeonly, crusty (and slightly bitter) scientist, Hank Pym, while Evangeline Lilly was up to her usual excellent standards, and Corey Stoll puts in a perfectly judged turn as the villian of the piece, Darren Cross / Yellowjacket. However (and perhaps not surprisingly) the scene-stealer from this movie is the consistently fun Michael Pena, this time playing one of the slightly shady characters with whom Scott Lang/Ant Man (Paul Rudd) runs with when being the bad-boy burglar. We've come to expect flawless special effects from Marvel and Ant Man does not let us down: whilst it is entirely possible that some might find the thought of a movie full of ants to be somewhat squeamish in nature, this film manages to bring a subtle humour and sense of fun to the process.A thoroughly enjoyable and fun movie, seriously deserving of it's good reputation. A very worthy edition to the MCU!

sometimes less is more
Even though I enjoyed age of ultron I felt like it wasn't up to the usual standard of marvel films then ant man comes along and smashes my expectations it's this year's guardians of the galexy a not so well known comic book that proved better than the well known comic films of the year. I won't go to Much into the story all I will say is that it is more of a heist film than anything, the charecters were all likeable and ant man is the most relatable hero to date he is a rather ordinary person, the villain as usual its another sleeper hit vilian as expected with marvel films but he does prove to be a better villain than like of Thor the dark world, iron mans 3 so called mandarins and guardians of the galexy (the villains are that rubbish I dint even remember their names) the final thing I will talk about is The 3d which is brilliant with every marvel film iv saw in 3d I thought they were ok nothing too good ant man uses 3d very well with great depth I felt like I could just go right into the movie and when ant man shrinks and you start seeing massive bath tubs and Thomas the tank engines (not joking) the scale just feels incredible I would rank this number 3 on my marvel film list with cap winter soldier number 1 then guardians of the galexy I couldn't recommend this film enough biggest suprise of the year for me.
