Violin Teacher Recommended
My daughter's violin teacher suggested it as a bit pricier alternative but swore that it is very good. I know nothing about strings, just took her word for it. Both the daughter and the teacher are happy.

Effortless playability, great projection
I have been playing violin for 10 years. For years 6-8 I had been using Dominant strings when I took a break to try out D'Addario Helicore strings, because of the harsh quality of the E string that Dominants are so notorious for. I don't know why I hadn't thought sooner to just switch out the E, but I digress.Skip ahead a few years later — while I do still love my Helicores, it was time for me to re-string, and I decided to give Dominants another try (because we can't all afford Evah Pirazzi gold lol). I also picked up a loose Pirastro Gold E for my E string since it seems to be a popular combo with Dominants — and with good reason, I would find.Upon re-stringing I rediscovered how easy Dominant strings are to tune, but they take a while to settle in and tend to slip pretty quickly until they're "broken in" (especially the A string). That being said, the difference in playability between the Dominant and Helicore strings is night and day — Dominants feel much less resistant and tense, with the same if not better projection. Playing on Dominants feels effortless and smooth, and the Pirastro Gold E was a great substitute for the Dominant E.
