Works great with my IEEE 1394 PCI card
A lot of customers needing a PCI to PCI-E adapter are looking to continue using a sound card from an old computer, or maybe connect a new computer to an old SCSI array, so they need to use their old PCI cards. I am trying to digitize DV tapes from an old Sony camcorder, but the IEEE 1394 Firewire card from an old computer was PCI and wouldn't fit into my newer Windows 10 machine that only had PCI-E slots available. I searched for an inexpensive adapter, but the cheaper ones got 1-star reviews. This one got consistent high reviews so I gave it a try, and I'm glad I did. The installation was a snap, just insert the very small PCI-E card into an available PCI-E slot on the motherboard of the new computer, and pass the included proprietary USB cable through the case. Attach the other end of that cable to the PCI board that sits outside the case, and fire up the computer. The blue LED light indicated power was supplied, and Device Mangager confirmed that the IEEE 1394 host controller was performing normally. I then plugged my Firewire cable into my Sony Camcorder and the other end into the adapter, and turned on the Camcorder. It was instantly recognized by Windows 10, and I used a program called Cyberlink PowerDirector to capture the video. Everything worked like a charm with no issues with setup at all. A bonus is that the power is supplied through the USB cable, so there is no need to provide power from the PC power supply cable. 5 stars for easy setup and flawless operation.

It works!
It actually works! I just built a new PC a couple of weeks ago, so this is being used with brand new, 2024 hardware. The use case for me was as follows. I'm a musician. A producer as well. I record and publish music. I bought an audio interface back in 2005 that used a PCI card along with a breakout box to give me 8 inputs and 8 outputs. Somewhere along the line, I upgraded my PC and they stopped making the old PCI format. The perfectly good interface went back into the box and into storage. For the most part, I only need one input at a time, and two outputs have always been good because I mix music in stereo. But I recently wanted to get into 5.1 surround sound mixing, which requires a minimum of 5 outputs. Without wanting to spend more money to buy a modern interfacez with enough outputs, I wondered if I could somehow revive that old one in storage. I found this PCI to PCIe converter and figured it was worth a try. It came a day after I placed the order, and I had it working with my 20 year old interface within 15 minutes!!! I set up 5 speakers quickly and tested it out, and it works. I'm just blown away. Such a simple device, yet so powerful!

Doesn't accomadate many PCI cards!
I had high hopes to use the 2-slot PCI card adapter to interface 2 older, high-profile DAQ cards with a SFF PC. Totally did not work out. The SATA connection to get 12VDC power into the adapter card is poorly designed. The male portion on the baord is very brittle and thin plastic. One support tab snapped off the first time I plugged and unplugged the connection, and I handle items carefully! The vertical SATA connectorbumps right into both PCI cards. The only way the cards could possibly seat is if one were to grind down the sides of the SATA female plug, which would expose the the two outboard power leads!. I have no idea why they didn't use a right-angle connector on the adapter tp stay below the PCI slots. Again: a horrible design.

Worked great!
I have an Adaptec AHA2940UW SCSI PCI card,. I couldn’t find a PC with an old PCI bus. I was nervous that the adapter would not work.I followed the instructions and it worked like a charm! BIOS detected it perfectly.I have Win 11 and card is so old that it does not have a current Windows driver. I had to install a 32 bit Win 7. After driver install and reboot, it worked great!Although I am frustrated because my 25 year old SCSI F/W drives are corrupted.

Can work with 3.3 volt cards
Working in a Linux CentOs 7 pbx. It wouldn't fit in the 1U server, so I stuck it in a plastic box instead. This is a 3.3 volt pci card, and there is a jumper on the board that allows that bus voltage to be selected. However, the card connector is slotted only for 5v cards. My solution was to CAREFULLY cut a slot on the pcb edge connector to fit.

Great solution!
I have 2 old NI I/O cards i use for research, and was afraid i’ll need to upgrade them and rewrite the software with the pc upgrade and switch to pcie (old pc that used them finally died and had a pci motherboard). They both seem to work just fine with this adapter and, unless some unforeseen disaster looms, this little thing has saved me a world of grief. Certainly worth the very reasonable price.

Surprised by how well it works
I recently updated my computer. Unfortunately, the new motherboard would not accept my M-audio Audiophile 192 audio card. While I have other audio interfaces, the 192 is by far my favorite. The adapter has worked flawlessly on Windows 10 using the last drive created for Windows 7. Plugged it in and that was it. Could not have been easier! The adapter is free standing on the bottom of the computer case and has plastic "feet" that keep it from moving.
