Our black caulk will fill your crack and then some. In other words, it'll work just fine.

As long as the material You are putting in the aquarium is NOT porous and you make sure any openings are closed up this should work for you. Of course how much you use and the depth of your aquarium are factors as well as if you don’t apply enough and if one has a big tank the pressure on the seal could brake. I use this to make retaining walls for landscaping my aquariums and its been working great for me.

It will - but it wouldn't be effective. I would scrape off the bad section and apply the new silicone.

Q: could this seal pvc to abs plastic?

Yes it will. The silicone will adhere clean smooth surfaces.
