Fun Game. The Original is Better
This is a fun game, but it does take a little bit to understand and it’s definitely not as fun as the original Sleeping Queens. There are some different elements to this game than that of the original, but I like the original’s rules and turn options better. I miss having the joker, like the original game has. I also miss having the knights, dragons, etc. The quality is nice and it is visually appealing.

Fun game with a little math
My students love this game! I play with kids 9-11 and they request to play it all the time. We have all three versions and they like each one but enjoy the knights the most in this game. The game doesn’t take too long to play and it’s small enough to not take up too much room in my classroom. It didn’t take too long for us to learn and has been great for a little math fact practice.

BEST GAME
We love Gamewright games in general and have had Sleeping Queens for years. This game is SUPER cute, easy to play and so so fun. As soon as my daughter opened it, we started playing. Literally has played it for days non stop. The pictures are clever and creative. And although the overall goal isn't super complicated, the game play is engaging enough that my older kids and my husband and I like to play too! Great family game. Another winner, Gamewright!!

What a fun game
It can be confusing to play at first but once you figure it out, it is so much fun!

Not as fun as the original; harder
This is a good game, but not as fun as the original and it for as young of children as the original. Also it is more difficult to understand or 'pick up' than the original.

Great sequel!
My niece (7 yrs) is a huge fan of the original Sleeping Queens and the sequel has just enough additions to the game play to make it a fun new experience!

As good as the original
It’s a little more complicated than the original but just as fun. Direction cards (it comes with 2) are helpful. My sister-in-law and I learned it first and then taught the kids (ages 6-12). We were playing in no time.

Too complicated
The beauty of the first game was its simplicity so young kids through adults could all enjoy the game together. The only complexity in it was really the math and so it was a great way to practice math facts as well as adding up to 50 by 10s and 5s (had to reach a certain number of points with your queens to win). The characters were charming and our anniversary edition had even more characters to love. The sequel game is more complicated. In the original, you just draw and play - very straightforward. This game has a roll die, move knights with special powers around, queens cannot save a king without a helper animal, and everything seems to have multiple choices or decisions, plus queens can still be put to sleep and have to be woken up. Just reading the rules for the game, I got bored and confused and my seven year old walked out. This is only the second game where reading rules made me never want to play the game. It did not help either that my favorite characters like the Puzzle King were absent in this game. Though I did like the addition of the music King (my husband plays drums). When we finally sat down to play the game, we had an ok time but had to keep checking the rules and made some mistakes. Instructions are not clear on certain instances like if you can use a Switch Witch to swap a sleeping queen with an awake one. We will probably play the game again, but I was very disappointed that you no longer added to a certain point value to win - you just need a certain number of kings (2-3 depending on group size). We play the original game for the math practice, so because the sequel has far less math in it - it automatically won't be played as much. Then add in the all this complexity and its not a game the parents want to reach for.If you like more complicated games, then give this a chance. But if you want something simple to practice math facts in a fun way - stick the original game.
