Not sure what you don't know?
I usually don't leave reviews but Sylvia book has been a complete godsend (tho I'm not religious at all). I have a friend helping out with finance and she has an accounting degree, but not everyone is blessed and may be doing it alone even if we're never really alone. Heck even reading through this... made me realize this is what I wish my friend had told me.But Sylvia's book was amazing at sitting me down, talking me through the basics and telling me exactly what I needed to know that I didn't know. Yes its overwhelming in the sense of omg I didn't think of that, oh yeah this makes sense, and ahhhh so that's how I can start being successful. She delivers this info concisely, compassionately with amazing examples and templates.Honestly this is a must read, I read it on my kindle free account but definitely purchasing this on its own due to the value added. This book as saved me so much time in googling, tunnel holing into who knows what else, the value of this book is 10x its weight in information. For those budding entrepreneurs who don't know anything about finances but have a nagging feeling you should be doing more, I urge you to start with this book. You won't regret it.

A 'must read' for busy entrepreneurs who have 'attend to finances' on their 'To Do Someday' list
I was both relieved and horrified reading Sylvia Inks' book, Small Business Finance for the Busy Entrepreneur. I thought I was fairly finance savvy when it comes to personal finances. And I thought I was somewhat savvy when it came to my business finances. I was relieved to learn that I was in some cases. But thanks to this book, I am becoming savvier and saving more. I love the book's case studies that illustrate the great tips in real life. I love the quick, helpful tips throughout the book. I was horrified to learn that I need to check whether I'm using a personal or business version of the cloud storage system because I might be at risk of losing ownership of my intellectual property on the personal version. Yikes! This book is a simple yet powerful 'must read' for busy entrepreneurs. The busier you are, the more you need to read it ASAP to make sure you're building a solid, profitable business.

One of my life-changing books!
If you are an entrepreneur or a small business owner who is just starting out, or you are someone who wants to start your own business one day, this book would show you the first step (or even step zero) you need to take about finance. It does not go too deep in each topic, which would only overwhelm an aspiring beginner (such as myself). The author seems to put her heart into this book and has very good intention, too (you would sense it when you read through the book). She writes in easy language and in shorter chapters, which makes the book even more beginner-friendly. All in all, if you are - like me - believe in the importance of finance for small businesses, but you are a beginner and struggling to find a finance book that matches your current level of knowledge, you would certainly adore this book. (And I hope more business finance authors write finance-starter-friendly books like this one!).I've just read 3/4 of the book, and I've now felt smarter, more confidence, and ready for step two in finance and in business, too. I hope the author releases her next book very soon...

Helps you build a strong framework
This books helps you build a strong framework...it says so in the book and the author delivers.I knew quiet a few things already but then there was some aspects I didn't think of- like getting the system set up first rather than doing it as you go. The author is right- my error on planning to do it later ended up not getting whatever it was in terms of clarifying the process or implementing a system. This is a great book for newbies to keep as a reference guide as they go and to share.

Exactly the financial advice I wish I would've learned 14 years ago when I started my business
My small business in real estate has survived and thrived for 14 years using many of the business principles and practical insights Sylvia Inks shares in Small Business Finance for the Busy Entrepreneur. Unfortunately, I learned my lessons the EXPENSIVE way through the school of hard knocks! I could have paid 10x the cost of this book and still considered it a bargain to get these lessons up front. The author did an excellent job of outlining this book to make it practical and useful for any small business owner. Much like the blueprint for a house, she takes you step by step through the components of a financially well-run business. From business budgeting tools, to cash management, to getting paid on time by customers, it's all covered. I particularly like that she does not assume any question or topic is too small. The book even covers details like how to pay yourself at payroll as the owner of the business. Don't get that wrong! If you're a small business owner, I highly recommend that you make an investment of time and money to read this book. Your bank account and your peace of mind will thank you.Chad Carson, 14-year real estate entrepreneur

A great foundation for starter
I am in planning phase and this book has helped me to put things together and in order, what's first, what's next. I have no accounting background and the author explains and breakdown things in an easy to follow way, explains terminology into lay people language. I truly think, after all my life thinking that I hated math, that I might actually like to study accounting for setting up my business the sustainable way! If numbers scare you, I would recommend you this book! It is really not as bad as you think, if you have a good teacher like this author, everything is broken down with examples, and you will have a clear understanding at the end of each chapter. I also learned new things like figuring out the break-even formula. I expected the book gives suggestion of how to budget advice in a more detailed way, but it gives a more general info, which makes sense as the purpose of this book is to give you an outline. Still, I highly recommend this book to all small business starters. A five star!
