Photo 1 is the XLR audio pinout standard. On this adapter, signal ground is correct but positive and negative are pinned wrong. Positive (red) is on pin 3 and negative (black) is soldered to pin 2. The mini connector side is pinned correctly. Very bad quality control. Second adapter pinned this way. Returning.

Does exactly what I needed, I just wish the cable were a little more substantial
I needed an adapter to connect an XLR cable (male) to a mini XLR port (male) and this adapter does just that. I wish the cable between the connectors was a little bit thicker, but that may not be compatible with the mini XLR connector. Not much to say, you plug it in and it works. In my case to connect the cable from a microphone to a sound panel and allow phantom power to be applied to the microphone.
