Effective and inexpensive alternative to a conventional pinch collar for most dogs.
I have used this collar on at least 20 dogs. Many of these dogs had no obedience, bad manners, and behavior issues that required training. The most common problem among the many has been pulling on the leash. This collar will do just what the dog needs in order to begin to end leash pulling and that is to be uncomfortable when it is pulling on the leash. Harnesses, harness leashes, "gentle leaders" and the like are merely gimmicks being marketed to those with good intentions, but lacking in knowledge about leash pulling and other unwanted behavior as well as dog obedience training. This collar is inexpensive, made well from high-quality materials and easy to use if the recommended sizing and fitting instructions are followed. This collar should always be used with the included nylon backup slip collar or some other type of collar. I use a snap-around collar for a backup.ALWAYS USE A BACKUP COLLAR! Pawmark sells a leash extension on Amazon with two snap hooks that works well to attach the leash to a primary and backup collar. This collar is effective as a general training collar for most dogs. I highly recommend trying this collar before spending a lot more money on a conventional metal pinch collar. The size of the collar is adjusted by adding or removing links. This can be a little tricky at first. However, there are videos that demonstrate how to do this properly. After a couple of tries, it is not hard at all. If you are unfamilar with pinch collars or have been exposed to the negative propaganda about them from the Dark Side, you should know that these collars are not painful nor do they injure the dog in any way if used properly. But, NEVER LEAVE THIS COLLAR OR A PRONG COLLAR ON A DOG FOR DAYS!! This is really a bad idea. I have read some of the less than positive reviews concerning this collar. Some of them are irrelevant as they refer to a different collar - with pictures included. Others are in the category of those unique situations such as dogs with very long coat hair, and dominant or aggressive dogs. This collar is probably not going to be as effective as a prong collar for specific special cases. The collar is a great first collar to use for most dogs. However, like other collars and tools might not be effective for some dogs compared to a prong collar. I use a prong collar for foundational obedience work and then switch to this collar when moving the dog to an electronic training collar. The small collar size is suitable from my experience for dogs up to 50 pounds or for dogs with small necks. If it is the case that you have to use less than six links for a dog with the large size collar, I recommend using a small size and adding links. You do have to take some time to read and follow the instructions and watch the videos on how to size and use the collar - especially adding or removing links.

Good product
I was trained in how to use a regular pinch collar with my last dog. The trainer called the collar a "hearing aid", as in the dog listened to me when I used it! Which came in handy when I tried to walk him when I had a broken shoulder. But I just didn't like the sharp metal prongs. My current dog also needs a "hearing aid" despite all training, and I was happy to find this alternative. It still works, which makes me happy.I only gave 4 stars because it doesn't work QUITE as well as the normal metal ones, but that also could be that my girl is more stubborn than my last dog, too. It is easy to connect, comes with a secondary collar in case it comes unhooked or loose from leash, and overall works pretty good. My dog does not fight using it, and she would if she didn't like it.

Helpful
Game changer for teaching your dog not to pull. Our puppy is going through training and this item was recommended to use during training. It has been helpful as he is still learning the ropes. But if you have a puller, you might try this. Quality is good, adjusts with links to fit your dog. We have a 27 pound medium size dog and use a small on him. It is lightweight and certainly prefer this over a metal prong collar.

amazing
This is the best anti-pulling device I've tried. It works better than a prong, a slip, a choke, an easy walk harness, or a nose harness. Walking is pleasant now! But, the large didn't fit my 50 pound dog, so do measure in case you need extra links.

Not for strong dogs
Would be perfect for smaller dogs or dogs that aren’t very strong but my American bully pup broke off three times and the third time he chewed it up before i could save it. The plastic just didn’t work out. Plus his sole intention in life is to break out of anything he possibly can so i should have known plastic wasn’t going to work for him. He is a puller (why i got this plus all the good reviews) but apparently he pulls too hard and it just popped off.

This collar works when used properly
Easy to use, easy to remove the links. Adjust collar as needed. Make sure you keep the collar high on the neck behind the ears. Reward your dog by releasing the tension when your dog isn’t pulling. This collar worked as soon as I put it on my puppy. Once she learns not to pull, I will go to a traditional collar. Make sure to watch the video and USE THE COLLAR PROPERLY. This is not a tool to punish your dog with or for you to lose your patience with. Be kind to your dog.

It just simply worked under 10 minutes.
Holy cow!!! Just got this today to try and teach my pug to walk on a leash properly. He is always at full “tug” and was extremely frustrating. Just used it for the first time and can’t believe how well it worked. I kid you not, I did ONE “U-turn” and he instantly knew something was different and stayed close. I did a few more and then some random direction turns and he picked it up in under 10 minutes. This lil guy was walking by me and I noticed him eyeing me to watch what I’m doing. When I would stop suddenly, he would get close to my legs and SIT without even a command. I would give him a treat 1/2 the time he did this. This device freaking works. For the price, it’s a no brainer. I got the small(for a pug) and is basically perfect for his neck and allows just enough looseness to not be a problem when not tugging. If your pug is on the thicker side, the bigger one with some links taken off may be a better option.Just buy it!
