I had surgery on my forehead to remove a spot of skin cancer, and ended up with a 4 inch scar. My dermatologist recommend silicone gel and silicone pads to help reduce the appearance of the scar. I bought these pads because I wanted something with a little cushion to protect the area from wearing hats. These feel similar to those under eye patches you wear for a spa treatment. They are a bit “rubbery” feeling, and they just the right amount of cushion. They stay in place well, and they blend in with my Irish skin tone pretty well. They are “reusable” to an extent, but I find they don’t stick very well after the 2nd use. I do wash them with mild soap and air dry, but they aren’t the same after 2 uses. I use gel silicone first, then apply tinted mineral sunscreen. After 10 minutes of drying, I apply the silicone pad, and it sticks well. I also use at night while sleeping and it doesn’t fall off. I do trim these to fit the size of the scar.As to whether or not it reduces the scar, time will tell, but at the very least, it provides a good alternative to keeping the scar discreetly covered besides a bandaid.Update: I started using these overnight and using them directly after washing my face. I find that these pads work better than the gel. The pads have had a bigger impact on flattening the scar and removing the redness. I use the Kroger SPF 100 sheer touch sunscreen in the day, wash my face at night, apply face cream, and after about 10 min I apply the silicone pad. They’ve been helping a lot.

I been wearing the strips for almost two month I just bought my third box, 4 come in a box and I switch them every week. I wear it throughout the day and remove it at night. What I like about them is that the sun don’t hit the incision so the scar won’t get a sunburn, you can’t feel your wearing the strip at all. It’s been two months and I can see improvement. I think it may take about 6 to 8 months for me to actually see results. They do work on new and old scars. The timing is different. You can see on my picture these are old scars on my arm one is still white and the other one is almost clearing up. The neck is pink compare to how red it was.Cons: you have to be patient and let it do it’s job and remember to wash them daily or they will start to roll up on you and the sticky will loose it’s performance. (I save the plastic that I remove from the back to put back on the strip after I wash it at night.)

I had huge cuts I had to get stitches for and I had been using scar gel but they were super red. Within two weeks of using these patches consistently, the darkness has started to fade for 2/3 of my surgery stitches.However, they claim that the stickiness will last for 21 days but mine start falling off around 5-6 days after use and I have to repurchase these frequently.

These work!!!I had a 1 inch scar on my forehead from a gym injury. I started using an allantonin gel once the wound was closed. This didn't seem to help after 1 week. Then I tried a silicone gel, made in China, along with a silicone sheet (a thin tape), also made in China, for use when I was outdoors in the sun. This silicone tape, which adhered very well and was the color of my skin, made me hopeful that I would see improvement, and I liked that it was not very noticeable. But it actually made it worse, raising the scar on one end.Then I bought these. The quality is evident. They are more expensive, but you can cut them to size you need, so for a smaller scar they will last long enough. Less than two weeks later, the scar is just over 1/2 inch, is more narrow, and much less noticeable. I cover it except when I shower, and will continue to do so because this Mederma product works beyond my expectations! I was even considering paying for laser treatment (very expensive and not covered by insurance) because having a scar on my forehead made me depressed. I rarely write reviews, but I feel that this product deserves one!

Great material but doesn't stick well. The knock off brands feel cheap and sticky, but they do stick a lot better.

I don’t understand how this was supposed to last 21 days. It rolled off the first night. And I put it on at night, so just a matter of hours. These are way too expensive and only 3 in the box for a matter of hours of coverage. Shockingly useless. Maybe it would stay on a part of the body that doesn’t get a lot of skin movement, like your shin? Didn’t stick to my shoulder blade or thigh.
