Chanced upon this lovely new book as I was looking for a toddler's book about camels to go with a toy camel I had already bought. Great new addition to the pantheon of animal books. Doug the camel is lonely until.....across the sand dunes comes a variety of new camel friends to play with. There's surprises, counting, funny rhyming, wonderful illustrations and just basically everything needed for this book to become a children's classic. I bought for a nearly 3 year old and she loved it straight away, got the "mystery" of who was it coming along next and loved counting the camels as they had a (spoiler alert!) party. Will be looking out for more books by Lu Fraser

Working at an Infants school, I couldn't rate this book highly enough. In addition to being a hilarious tale full of fun rhymes and bold bright illustrations, woven into the story is a genius thread to assist with helping young children develop and understanding of basis, early number sense (the oneness of one, the twoness of two etc).It really is a very clever story and one which the children will love without even realising they're learning.

We loved this book. Super original, fabulous main character (not to mention all of Doug’s friends!), flawless rhyme and lots of turn-pager story surprises with the most beautiful illustrations and a message we can all empathise with. A fabulous addition to any child’s picture book library and one we’ll read again and again.

This book is so much fun. It helps with counting in such a clever way, but is more than that - a great story too. The illustrations are full of character, and each camel has its own amazing personality. We identified lots with Doug! Highly recommend.
