Performed its function as expected.
Used this product to recover some data from a laptop HDD that had been sitting around for a while. The connections for a HDD/SSD were very solid and reliable to use. The connections weren’t flimsy, it was firm as expected.Setting this up was very easy as well as there’s no software required to facilitate the connection. Very plug-and-play.I used this device with Windows 11 and Windows 10 and it had no issues connecting. Compatibility was not an issue. For its reliability and and how compact it is, its excellent value for money.

Best budget dock I've used
Needed two things, backups to an external disk and to consiolidate data I had on a few old drives - the RSTECH dual dock has been perfect for the job.Construction may not be super solid but it's good enough if it's just sat on a desk without too many knocks. No issues hooking this up to my Linux box. It's detected all HDD's and SSD's I've thrown at it and provides a good solid USB3 connection. I've had some awful docks in the past (bad connections/physically falling apart) - I've been using this for a couple of months and this is by far the best - no problems at all, considering the price, I'm quite surprised.I've not used the built in clone tool - so can't comment on that, I tend to use my own backup scripts.A little fiddly to swap out disks and status LED's are a little difficult to see. Otherwise - this is a pretty decent dock - excellent value for money.

Great Product - has some restrictions
Needed to clone a HDD from Windows XP (I know extremely old system). However, the target drive was incompatible. Nonetheless, the client is very easy to use. I would suggest having a better indication of progress (although the current one is OK) but the biggest benefit is a means to illustrate the source and target drive. It’s always worrying for the time it takes whether you have the drives the right way around. Although you have time to think of answers to questions if you have messed up…Four stars because it was unable to perform the job I needed, but those that aren’t required to do Windows XP, it’s a great device.

I got what I expected
Item arrived on time. It worked with HDD and SSD drives. I had hoped to plug a SATA DVD drive in with a suitable cable but this was not successful. Tried a SATA to USB 3.2 cable but no success.....so probably nothing to do with docking station.

Great Device
Just bought one from Amazon. So far so good although it doesn't work on a USB2 port on my Linux Mint 22.1 jig so make sure that you plug it into a USB3 port. I suspect that the device is powered by a Linux kernel using the Linux dd utility. If that's the case then the manufacturer can improve the docking station by incorporating a disk cleaning functionality using the same dd command. To do this, you press and hold the OTC button with only 1 drive inserted. The firmware will be enhanced to detect that there is only one disk inserted and will proceed to write nulls or zeroes to the disk. It's quite simple actually. What a great product it would be if it will 'clean' your hard drive as well before throwing it in the bin.Updated on 18th Sept 2024======================Just less than 18 months later it packs up so reliability is a big issue. I therefore have no choice but to down grade the rating to one star.

Faulty so returned
This is a rewrite of my original review due to me not understanding some aspects of how these devices worked. I had a real, issue putting my 3.5 inch drives in. They just didnt fit properly. One drive was extremely difficult. The placement of the sockets were too close to the edge so causing a very tight fit. And there was too much space on the sides too so again making it difficult to locate the drives properly. So unfortunately I had to return the product. The replacement from another maker was fine.Another issue that appears to be a problem with all these docks is that they dont work that well with USB 2 sockets The output current being less than USB 3 is a problem. At least with older 3.5 inch drives as one can't connect 2 drives to a PC at the same time. This one would not even connect a 3,5 in one slot and a 2.5 in the other at the same time (my replacement could). I suggest this may not be problem with USB 3 though. I must leave that to others to comment.I'm guessing that I just had a bad one. The dock itself is very neat and compact and of sturdy construction.I have to praise the manufacturer for the excellent and quick response and suggesting it was a faulty unit and asking me to return it.So it's difficult to review properly as was not able to use it in the way it was intended. So I give 1 star for this sample and must bump it up to 3 stars due to the help from the maker.

Very good at what it does
It's a very convenient way to manage your collection of hard disks by making their contents immediately available. And also to copy entire hard disks off-line, for example on to a larger disk, also for attaching an effectively off-line disk for backups. Also great for catching up quickly what your hard disks actually contain. The design makes the connections robust while being easy to change
