I purchased the ASUS FX706HE and I am very happy with it so far. It came with Windows 10 home but I did a clean install of Windows 11 from a bootable USB created according to the Microsoft directions. ASUS FAQ 1044458 was very helpful when installing Windows 11 because one needs to add the storage controller to the bootable USB. However, I would add one should turn off bitlocker before starting the install and that only the arrow keys worked to navigate in step 6 to find and load the Intel RST VMD Controller. After initial Windows 11 install, more drivers were of course needed. Window update has improved somewhat at finding device drivers but visit the ASUS website to be sure you have the latest. I manually installed the Armoury Crate hardware settings app from the ASUS site after the clean install.The 11th generation i5-11260H provides performance improvements over previous generations when using virtualization based security. The laptop detects if plugged in and selects the appropriate power profile automatically. On battery, it went to silent (power saving) profile and I got 3.5 hours of battery use going down to 20% battery reading web articles and watching videos. Office 2021 runs fine in power saving mode. The GeForce RTX 3050 Ti graphics is adequate for casual gaming. Only the ASUS site had the latest driver for this GPU. Age of Empires IV stopped complaining after the install and runs well.

Everything about this machine, besides the graphics card, is fantastic. It just isn't great at doing what its advertised to do. For some reason, having an external monitor hooked up causes the monitor to go blank for seconds inexplicably. I was playing games from 7 years ago on low-medium settings and still getting screen flickering (Fable Anniversary on Steam). It happened so often that playing games became extremely annoying, and one of the purposes of this laptop is to game.Perhaps this is a fundamental flaw of the mobile version of the RTX 3050 TI, but you are much better off going with a 20 series 2070 or better. You'll have much better performance out of it.When doing anything else, though, the laptop is super fast and responsive. It's just not great for its advertised purpose.

This computer would have been great, if the screen ever worked. I wouldn't care much if I could just return it and get my money back. I requested a refund, it was accepted and I sent it back. BUT I STILL HAVE NO REFUND. I just want my money back.
