Fabulous supplementary A-level textbook to sit alongside existing ones
Like most of the CGP books, this one is extremely well thought through, and its layout is exemplary. The textbooks are so comparable to Pearson’s own A Level Mathematics Edexcel books that at first I thought it was an updated edition of the older texts. Indeed, the CGP books bear a remarkable resemblance to Pearson’s own, even down to the blue front covers for Pure and brown front covers for Applied as well as the layout of the exercises, complete with challenge questions at the end of some of the chapters as well as intermittent review exercises at strategic points in the book.Setting this aside, the positives of the book are the well explained notes on the theory for every topic needed in Year 2 of the Applied Maths course, annotated worked examples and explanations, plenty of practice questions for every chapter and a complete mark scheme. As a tutor, I will be using this book to compliment my existing library of A Level maths textbooks as it is always useful to use questions that students have not seen, but if I was a student, I would pick either the Pearson books or the CGP ones, but not both as they are just so similar. In CGP’s favour, their own offering is a couple of pounds cheaper than Pearson’s. Additionally, I prefer the more logical order of the Mechanics teaching and hallelujah for the extra ladder questions that students absolutely loathe!

Top Quality Student Book
This is an A4 sized student book for the A Level Maths,Statistics & Mechanics Year 2. While much of the information and study will be relevant to other exam boards this book is aimed at students working towards the Edexcel Board exam so probably worth checking this is the board the exam will be taken with before buying.CPG Study books are very much the market leaders. They are always high quality. Well worth the cost. This A Level year 2 Maths,Statistics & Mechanics Year 2 the Student book is another excellent publication. Mainly clear examples of questions, the worked answers are particularly helpful. The bonus are all the fully worked answers that can be found in the back of the book and the online version. This book is A4 sized and printed onto great paper, good use of colour highlights just what the student needs to learn well. I particularly found the Statistics sections to be really well written. Like the motorbike on the cover! Little things like this engage the student with their learning.Highly Recommended.

Book produced to look like the ones publishedby the same Conisbrough that writes the papers
This series of books are produced to look just like the ones which are published by Pearsons who in turn produce the real exam papers! As a home tutor, these books are useful. They are (a little) cheaper than the Pearson books but ideal for additional questions and exercises to those the students are probably being set at school.

Great companion for Edexcel A-level Maths
This book is great for consolidating knowledge and is proving especially useful for revision for my daughter's upcoming mock exam revision. The pages contain a good amount of information - not too much information such that it is overwhelming but also enough so that a student could teach themselves the course if necessary. The 'review exercises' at the end of each topic provide around 20-30 mixed questions, which is great for faster revision and identifying areas of further revision. The answers are in the back, and the online edition allows my daughter to use the book wherever she is. Thoroughly recommend.

Colourful text that does not overwhelm
One problem I have with maths textbooks is how intimidating they can be. This book has an excellent use of colour and white space to make it less daunting than some others. This volume covers the A-level year 2 Statistics and Mechanics content and it is easy to find the relevant content for the exam questions because of the simple organisation of the book. It also gets straight to the point with clear explanations. The CGP books are always well priced which is why they are used by so many schools. I think that it is great for most students.

Very useful for revising for your A levels
I have to admit most of the stuff in this book goes way over my head! But my son is taking his A levels (including maths) this summer and is currently revising for his mocks, so they’ve come in really handy. The books are nicely laid out and (as far as I can tell!) clear and comprehensible with a nice use of colour for panels with illustrations, example calculations and graphs.

Another hit from CGP
Having used this range at GCSE, we got this for our son to support his A2 study and revision. There’s good balanced content, supporting learning and extending revision, with worked examples and clear explanations. Very good value for money as if it only adds a few arks that can be the difference between grades!

I like this series
I like everything about these books (I won't comment on the contents, we are not there yet, but I am a qualified teacher/materials developer so know a good book when I see one). I like that they are structured, have comments and explanations (and I love YouTube and Google as guest tutors to add and explain every grey area), there are answers and some practice, though I could always do with more of the latter, and they follow each other.I find them useful for Home Education as I believe they offer that backbone to the subject if your child needs a guide to go by to unlock the Statistics and Mechanics at this level. What you have to be aware of, and most likely are, this is not a book you can read and digest halfway in. It requires a good level of knowledge of the subject prior to you getting it out and handing it over to your young aspiring mind, but, luckily, these books also offer some guide as to what you need to be ready for this book.I am happy to recommend, but look through the photos, together with your child, you know your child better so will see if it works for them.
