Not sure but it was a one and done for me, i had to hammer it in the ground to get a sample, bent it all up

Just push the probe into the soil and the dirt will gather inside the tube. Push that dirt out with your fingers. If the soil is hard you may need to turn or twist the tool as you push.

Q: Anyone have any tips on how to remove plugs effectively? I have clay soil and they seem to stick inside of the device.

In my case, the lab gave me a small box with instructions to take several core samples and mix the core samples together. So it was not important to keep the core sample intact. I just used a screwdriver to clean the soil out of the device and into a bowl where I mixed several core samples together for the lab.
