Q: Are you able to cut the board to trim it to a different size?

I don't think so. It has a wooden frame that you would have to take off and then cut the frame to fit the size of the board. Buy a smaller board.

Q: how does this attach to wall?

I wouldn't buy this product it came warped so didn't sit against my wall at all and white board was scratched:( sorry It attaches to the wall with hooks and the holes to slide hooks into are on the black wood part of frame.

Q: Is it able to to be hung to a metal surface, such as a refrigerator, by magnets instead of by nails or screws? In other words, magnetic on both sides?

No. Ours was very warped and had to be screwed to the wall.

Q: How well does this erase with a dry eraser (vs wiping down with water or a cleaning product)?

I use a dry eraser and it cleans fine. When there is a build up I also use a cleaning product. I never use water.
